Ok, well I was messing around with the resolution of my 360 and I put it to the highest setting, and the shit went crazy and turned off. ??? I turned it back on and now my tv just says invalid format and its just a black screen. Is there a way to fix this? WTF did I do?

My guess is that you selected a resolution not supported by your TV.

that should do the trick

HOLD D-Pad RIGHT until blade selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds (You are now at System Blade)
HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You are now in Console Settings)
HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You are now in Display)
HOLD D-Pad DOWN until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You are now in Screen Format - If you get a “bonk” sound, skip next 2 steps)
HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You have just selected NORMAL Screen Format and have returned to Display)
HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You are now in Screen Resolution)
HOLD D-Pad UP until menu selection sounds stop, or 3 seconds
PRESS A (You have just selected 640 x 480)

I'm not getting any sounds either. It's like...nothing. You don't think I blew my AV cables do you? I JUST bought these about 20 minute ago.

I doubt cables can be damaged that way.... did you try hooking the factory basic cables? Check at least if you can get video/sound from the console.

Set the switch back to TV from HD, see if that helps (if you're using component). Also, what TV do you have? It's highly improbable that you damaged anything this way, unless something just happened to break.

you don't happen to have a westinghouse tv do you. when i got my hd dvd player and plugged it in with hdmi i got no picture or anything on my screen. then ever since i used the hdmi my wii said invalid format and my 360 said invalid format but only when a dvd was in it. not during a game or in the dashboard. i just have to use my 360 using a vga connection and wii with standard video

No it's an olevia, and the TV still works (cable) so the TV is fine. IDK man, this shit is wild and I really want to play my 360 since I just bought GTA 4.

Your tv is an Olevia... you can go into the menu and reset to factory defaults by input or reset the whole tv back to default. Try that as well... Olevia's are finicky when it comes to inputs. Also try cycling through all of the inputs with the Xbox already on to see if that makes it recognize the signal. If you select a resolution too high for your TV to display, the Xbox will revert back to the last working setting after 15 seconds.

It didn't revert back for me. It just took a massive shit.

It works on other TV's, just not mine. Fuck my life lol.

Ok so on other Tv's, it is asking me to set stuff up in 720, 1080 and so on. But on my olevia when I was fucking with it, it was asking me in resolution of like 640x480. Any ideas?

Ok, so it is working on the Olevia now. It is switched to "tv" on the a/v cable, yet I have the HD colors (blue green red) hooked in. Also, I am in 420p. I don't have any sound...

My TV just keeps saying "Invalid Format" on the bottom right corner.

Set it up for 720P and stereo sound on another TV (the switch has to be in the HD position). Then move it back to your Olevia TV. It sounds like an issue with your TV more than anything else.

Ok well it works with A/v cables but not with the VGA cable. Fucking gay lol.

Why would you want to use the VGA cable on a 720p set when you have an available component input? Or don't you have one available?

ZX2guy19

Well the A/c cable is kind of fucked up. Sometimes the game will flash green. Xbox sent me another set but it hasn't come yet
