I had a dream last night that I found my old ZX2. Some old lady had bought it and was selling it. I told her I wanted to by it and she let me drive it. I was so excited and happy to have my baby back. I'm going to buy another ZX2 to replace my Sentra soon. I was considering some other cars (like an 04 Grand Am GT), but I miss my Z. I've found a couple around town, but this one (http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&criteria=K-%7cE-%7cM-_14_%7cD-_5887_%7cN-N%7cR-30%7cI-1%7cP-PRICE+descending%7cQ-descending%7cZ-71110&aff=national&paId=134408213&recnum=0&leadExists=true) looks like the one I'll get. I found a 2001 with leather (ZX2 stitched into the seats), sunroof, black with 144k miles for $2995, but it's an automatic. Looks in good shape for it's age though.
Anyways, I'm going to be getting another ZX2, so I may be interested in some aftermarket parts (especially suspension after being spoiled by the ride in my V).

I'm not sure which one to get though. I like the way 03's look, but the black one with leather and everything is half the price and double the miles.

Airman- You will really regret getting an automatic, trust me. Get the 03. It has half the miles and is likely in 10x better shape. Plus, it is newer with a CD player and a great color. Trust me man get the 03, you'll love it in the end.

Well I'm not worried about the stereo because I still have my Alpine (that I bought shortly after my first Z in 02) that works great. Yes, the 03 has lower miles and it looks cool, but the 01 has leather, and gives less debt load. I'm trying to reduce my overall debt load as much as I can. Yes, it's an auto and I don't like that idea, but it reaches my goal better. I want the price and interior of the 01 in the 03.
It's leaning towards the 03 but the 01 is so cheap I don't want to disregard it as a good option. I don't mind fixing some things up if it can be paid off quick @ a low price. But it's an auto. I'm torn.

no get auto. lol. It all comes down to what you feel you can afford. Some deals you cant pass up. Some are worth it for something better...It's all in your hands.

Alright. I'm just saying screw it. I am going to pay cash for a car less than $1000 and wait for my SpecV to sell. Then go as far as I can without having 2 car notes. Saving $$$ FTW.

I concur.
I can't believe you can't find a Z for 1K! It seems like they are asking so much for these cars.. maybe its just me.

For the time being, I bought a 1990 Buick Skylark with close to 200k miles on it just to get me around so I can park the V places to get it sold. Paid $245 for it. A/C is gone, only the right side windows work, the speedometer exaggerates a lot (needle is buried when I'm going 45), I leave a bit of a smoke screen, the radio is gone, the fabric from the ceiling is falling off, and I need a screwdriver to turn the lights on. But the lights work, it moves, it stops reasonably good, and it's a 4 cylinder.
I'll post pics soon (it's a heap!) but it will do me for now until I get my V sold. As long as it lasts one month after I sell the V it will pay for itself.

lol, get the '03. sounds like the buick will get you through but having a dependable car is more important to me than having an extra 150ish bucks a month... 144k on that zx2 for 3k is insane i paid 2600 for mine 2 years ago and it had 79k on the clock.

Yeah, the buick is a temp thing. Not a long term.

Just cleaned the carburetor yesterday (it was BAD). Runs a lot smoother. Left drivers window no worky, rear aft window somewhat worky, no AC, no horn, no rear view mirror. I've had a blast just playing with this thing though. Tinkering with it and rigging the driver door so it opens from the inside.

I am having so much fun with this car. I did not expect it, but I am! I am having such a great time tinkering with this thing. Like today when I went to drive it to Advance Auto, it wouldn't start. It sounded like it wanted to and was on the verge of starting, but it wouldn't. So I took the Nissan to Advance instead and got some spark plugs for it. I had to practically remove the alternator to install 2 of them (and holy crap were they bad!) but after getting everything done, it fired right up and ran a lot smoother than before. I then proceeded to change the oil (even though I was completely covered in the blackest material I have ever seen in existence up to my elbows and I broke a part of the internal oil filter...will change soon) and then it ran even better! I love that feeling of accomplishment. I want to work on this heap and keep it running as long as I can because; as soon as I sell the Nissan I will only have 1 car note, and I love seeing this thing come back to life.
Maybe it's so much fun because I know I got it REALLY cheap, I don't owe anything on it, and I don't have to worry about voiding a warranty.

I know how you feel. I traded my Zx2 in for an Acura Cl type s...I cried the whole way home. Luckily the Acura's transmission broke so I got to take it back.

You've probably already doubled the power output by changing plugs and cleaning the carb. Now if you change the filter, you'll probably be good to go!
Funny how small things can keep cars running eh?

Yeah. I don't know though. There seems to be a coating of oil over a lot of stuff. Like when I took out two of the spark plugs, they were drenched in oil (all the plugs were nasty anyways). Gonna be going through and getting new hoses and gaskets probably. It still seems to idle a bit rough, and when I give a little gas when parked, it seems to shake a bit, like something is not firing when it's supposed or something like that. I'm thinking of changing the fuel filter (because God knows when or if it was changed) as well. Gotta plug a reader into it to see what the SES light is all about (oh yeah... it's on).
