if you replace the stock header with a custom one,dont you need to remove and discard the heat shield?

and doesnt that produce more heat under the hood if ya do?

if so,how do you correct the problem,or is it one?

Not really enough of a problem to be concerned about. The thinner metal of the header dosen't hold the heat like the cast iron manifold.

Individual tube headers are sort of a self fixing problem in this respect.
