I've heard quite a few discussed before, just all not in one place. I was thinking syncromesh, but i think mech had some cocktail that he said was awesome. Post your fluid, and how you like it. Thanks guys and gals.

M1 ATF here in the mtx its way better than the motorcrap fluid.

i've run Ford ATF, Mobil1 ATF and Red Line MTL. no shifting or grinding problems with any of them. Mobil1 is the best in the cold, red line isn't bad, motorcraft was hard to shift under -20C (until it warmed up). From what i've tried, i would recommend red line. all used in a manual transmission.

If you are going to run ATF, use a synthetic ATF, like the M1.
Trannys shear and tear up fluid, and synthetic will be best for the long run.
The friction characteristics are identical to normal ATF, so don't expect any difference unless you old fluid ws beat up and additive depleted.

But to get back to my bandwagon, I am a big fan of dedicated gear oils in manual transmissions. My current list of great fluids are Amsoil MTF, Redline MTL, MT90 [or mix them], or GM or Pennzoil Synchromesh. Much better protection than any ATF, and better shifting because they are friction modified for synchros, not slipping clutch packs.

A 50/50 mix of MTL and MT90 eh?

Yes, that is a proven winner.
MTL and MT90 are virtually the same except for viscosity [thickness].
SO the mix give a bit thicker than MTL alone, and our trannys like it.
In Texas or Florida, MT 90 would probably work real well alone.

Alright. I really never knew our tranny's agree'd with gear oil.

How's redline ATF? Would possibly a mix of syncromesh and redline atf be good? Or is that a no-no?

ive used redline mt-90 in the tranny in my car for a few years now, and in the tranny before that. had not a single problem.

but since i became an Amsoil dealer, im switchin over to one of their flavors of lube.

Redline D4 is a special ATF, that has gear oil specs. It's better than ATF.
It is pretty light, but still a bit thicker than regular ATF.
I've used it.
Try it . You may like it.
I told you what I recommend.

I put 80w-90 Mobile one gear oil and I love it in my trans.

Mobil 1 gear oil should never be used in our trannys.
Even the M1 website and service reps agree on this.
It is a limited slip hypoid oil, not a trans oil.
Yes, I know the car still runs.
