Ok, I would like to tint my windows in the future but something has been puzzling me. The rear glass where the ZX2 and black dots are. How does the tint look over top that? In my head I see air gaps but maybe someone can clear this up for me.

Could I see a few examples with their tint percentage? I'm thinking something like 35% all around or maybe 50% on the fronts and 35% on the rest. Being a DD I'd like to not get hassled by the cops.

Thanks

Ok, your from NJ...

I've been pulled over in my buddies A4 and he was told to take the tint off cuz it was too dark. I know 35% is pushing the legal limit. FL I know you can pretty much paint your windows black, but not PA.

I know this cuz I got the ticket in my name, which my buddy was nice enough to pay for it, lol.

i have onix high performance tint its a metal bases tint not color dyed like most tint. its preety dark and looks really good on mine.ill try posting some pics. i have 35% on the front and 5% on the back and rear. it looks really good. the place that put mine on was the best place in corpus. stayed on perfect even on the rear window with the black little dots with the zx2, no bubbles whut so ever it just depends on the place you take it to make sure they have a good rep and if your doing it yourself just make sure you take your time with it .

I will never put tint on myself. I hate tint, a pain in the butt, lol. But my buddy has a guy that does it on the side. Does really good work. Don't think I could get away with that dark though.

dude. just so you know, there is no "legal limit" in PA, about your tint.

now technically, if you go to get it inspected, then they could technically fail it, cuz that wasnt a factory option.

window tint in PA is all determined by the arresting officer. if he/she thinks it is too dark, then they can say something, or write ya up for it or some shit.

you can have 1 cop that says nothing about it, and a different one, can say that its too dark, and you legally have to listen to them.

lol its gay.
but trust me, I'm a certified inspection mechanic here in PA. armstrong county actually.

i tihnk ya might actually be able to look it up somewhere, but i can't remember where.

and whatever ya do, dont really trust wikipedia too much, cuz anyone can go on there, and change information.

also, if ya get tinted, and get pulled over, just roll down the winders haha!

and those black dots, on mine, they did leave little spaces, but didn't bubble up or anything like that.

Are the spaces visible from the outside? I'll ask a cop tomorrow what he says. He's not a cop cop but an undercover. We are fixing his wife's exploder, he's friends with my boss. Nice guy, I'll get his POV of this. From reading just now it seems there is no law against it, but cops misinterpret the code for it being illegal.

which spaces are you talkin about bud? on the back winda? or are you talkin bout the seams on the top of the driver or passenger windows?

either way, i was meaning to put them down the whole way lol.

also, its more of a saftey reason for police officers. if they cant see inside of the vehicle, they have no idea whats on the other side.

like if its a cloudy day or something, and you have really dark tint, how do they know that there isn't a 12 gauge shotgun on the other side ready to blast their ass??? they dont. thats why a lot of cops are strict about it. but i have had 20% on mine for the past month or so and havent got bothered yet, but yet again i try to be careful.

here is a pic. cant really see much but it kinda gives ya an idea. thats 20%.

I'll post pics in a bit - 20% all around. I've gotten a ticket for them once - but they're nice. The guys who did mine cut off the tint where the little black dots start.

Good luck seeing where you are going at night.

I got pulled over in Fairview township for 5% rear 1/4 windows and 35% door windows and had a 5 day warning to remove the tint. Had it on for maby a month. This was the solid black. Before I had the charcoal 35% on the fronts for around 8 months but removed it (what a PITA) and retinted it myself with the black. Bastard followed me all the way from School (Red Land) and then pulled me over almost all the way home.

There is no set "law" for Tint percentage in Pa. Some people say its 70% but its not listed anywhere.

Check out this link for the arguments and laws for PA...

Never been pulled over just for tint - but in almost 2 years having it I have had 1 ticket for them. Driving at night isnt bad...but backing up is.

this is 20% all around, 6" strip on the windsheild.

On my last car (Neon) I got pulled over for 35% all around and had to strip the front windows only. The officer said you can't have ANY tint on front windows in PA. I had to take it back in 5 days stripped. He also made me remove the windshield banner saying NOTHING on the windshield. He also made me take off taillight covers (GTS, looked just like '95 Stang tails with the slots and light showed through fine). It was in Middletown, about an hour from my home, so I had to go back up there. Cop was a jerk. I had JUST pulled out of a grocery store and he nailed me immediately, didn't even get moving yet. Worst part, about 500 more feet and I would've been out of his jurisdiction. He was apparently waiting for me.

But the car before that (Jetta), I had 5% all around and got pulled over for being sleepy while driving, the cop never said anything. You could not see in the car at all and this was at 2 a.m. I also had no muffler on that car, just a straight pipe. It was LOUD.

Yep, in PA, it's up to the cop.

That's what I'm going with on both my Z and my Mazda 3 when I get the money together. Thanks for the pictures. I've always wanted to see what 20% all around looks like.

in maine you cant have a 6" strip at all on the windshield and the legal limit is 50% all around. It sucks

in PA, you can have anything on your front window, UNTIL!!!! the as-1 mark. its on either side of your windershield.
anything ABOVE that is LEGAL, anything BELOW is ILLEGAL

its a compliance sticker , it says complies with some law and has the 35% VLT (visible light transmitted) .i didn't ask for it they just put it on ive seen alot of cars with it in texas

Buster

Doesn't look like it complies though, that's dark.

I don't think cops would care about it, just as theives don't care about alarm stickers. If they want to nail you, they will.
