These where pre-production models as the car is still a few months away. The silver one was a Turbo-4, while the red model was a V6.

Meh... I'm not terribly excited about the way the front end looks..

I don't like how crash standards are making a lot of designs with an upward pointing nose.

I think car would look better from the front if it had a more level lower lip and the lower front valence stuck out a bit further than the bumper. Giving it a look of \ instead of >

That's what lip kits are for.

We are getting the i-4 turbo as soon as it comes out. I wanted the V6 but my fiancee wants the turbo...I understand why, it will be cheaper and the turbo has more potential. I think it is a really weird looking car, but I really like it nonetheless.

I like it a lot. This car is definitely going to be the next SRT-4.

Yeah it's a Hyundai....that can take 29 psi bone stock.

Hyundai has been getting much better in all ways.

Did you look at the interior to this car? Makes me want to ditch my z (not for this car though lol).

The next srt4? uhh...

This is RWD, and NOT a dodge.

/discussion.

This may indeed though, be the next F4$74R!!!1!!!1!!1>?!?1?111?!1!1!!1.

Indeed.

You missed my point completely...it has nothing to do with who makes the car or it being fwd/rwd.

I understood your point completely, but my hate for the srt4 runs deep and is seeded in the fact that it is a mopar, and it is FWD, therefor, it is NOT the next SRT4.

Little specific details have been officially revealed by Hyundai, however there are rumors of its base model turbo-I4 being released at $19,900 and its V6 model starting at $25,900.

I pulled that off Wikipedia. If those priced turn out to be correct I might have to change my mind on what I buy in 2010. I was planning on picking up a WRX, but at prices like that. IDK. 20K for a 212HP Turbo RWD. I'd buy it.

its still as if you bought a bucket full of shit.

The four cylinder will put out an estimated 212 horsepower using regular grade gasoline and 223 on premium. The V6 will put out 306 on regular and 310 on premium, which Hyundai says will make it the least expensive 300 horsepower coupe in the world.

Hyundai claims that the V6 model will hit 60 miles per hour in under six seconds. The top-line SE model will include Brembo four-piston brakes (14" in front, 13.4" in rear - both ventilated) and a Torsen limited-slip differential. It will also come with 19" wheels, whereas other models will come with 18" wheels.

http://www.leftlanenews.com/hyundai-genesis-coupe.html

IDK, thats sounds like an impressive buy at around 20-25k. Not too shabby. I like that you can choose to run regular gas. I'd have to see how the 4 takes to mods and such once tuner peeps start buying them. I'm not in the market for a new car until about '10 and I am looking to pick up a new or slightly used 135i. The V6 would cost $10,000 less than the bimmer... maybe I'll try to talk the wife into one of these next year, would be a fun car to cruise around in.

Keep in mind you drive a ford...no room to talk. Besides, I own one of each, a ZX2 and a Tiburon...Mechanically the tiburon is better, exterior styling (my opinion) is better, power is better, potential is better, price compared to package is better, warranty is better (we haven't used ours yet), interior is made with better materials, and it's safer. Overall the tiburon is a joy to own and drive. I expect nothing less from the Genesis or the BK coupe.

i've heard/ read alot about this and although it seems like it will be a nice fun buy. Expecially stock 300 + horses to the rear for a cheep retail value and brand new car. My problem with it is I think the Exterior is just plain ugly and although I like the seats Im not diging the gauge set up and won't pay $25k for a new car i don't like...

Maybe the gf will get one though... she's had a bunch of hyundia's over the years.

It's actually real funny that you say that... And I will reply with a completely neutral answer and still destroy everything you just said.

I have in my hands at the moment a copy of the Car and Driver mag of May 97. If you look at page 87, there's a Coupe Comparo which includes an overall rating of 5 cars: the Toyota Paseo, the Saturn SC2, the Eagle Talon ESi, the Tiburon and the ZX2.

Let me begin by agreeing with you that Car and Driver is a really reliable source of information.

Their rating ended up with the ZX2 in first place and the Tiburon in second place.

So far, we have 2 brand new cars that have not been used for a long period (97: both cars are brand new 98 models, so they can't rely on the car reliability factor).

The ZX2 beats the Tibby, not from far, but let me explain now why the tibby is the shitbox instead of the zx2.

If we look in more details, the Tibby was second for only 1 reason: design.

Let me post the details of the scores.

ZX2, Tiburon
engine: 9, 8
transmission: 8, 6
brakes: 8, 8
handling: 9, 9
ride: 8, 7
ergonomics: 8, 9
driver comfort: 8, 8
rear seat comfort: 9, 6
utility: 8, 9
fit and finish: 9, 7
value: 9, 9
styling: 8, 9
fun to drive: 9, 9
TOTAL: 90, 89

Let me tell you now,

YOU are the ignorant one here. When you started comparing the ZX2 to the Tiburon, you should have first of all compared THE SAME YEAR model.
The ZX2 is a FAR more balanced car overall, and the only fuckin points that permitted the tibby to come anywhere near the ZX2 were freakin STYLING points.

And the worst here, is the fact that Car and Driver were comparing BRAND new cars, so the RELIABILITY factor is not even in the equation. The REPUTATION is not either.

Just take a look at the reputation of the tiburon and the reputation of the ZX2, and also the resale value... the Tiburon is a piece of crap at the end of the day.

Ho yeah, I almost forgot... I can beat the SHIT out of a 03 V6 Tiburon in my STOCK 98 ZX2. How's that?

El oh el. I like you.

Didn't Jimmy have a sheetload of trouble with his tibby? I mean, it looked sick, but wasn't it a real piece? They are slow as piss too. Byaah!

IMO though, the genesis will be sick.

A slew of minor issues, nothing mechanical as far as I can recall. I would definitely not call it "slow as piss" either. In stock trim, the V6 model will really move, and throw on an aftermarket exhaust - it will really get moving.

13's isn't a slouch though... not uber fast, but pretty good for Hyundai imo.

Eh.. IMO if we're talking about something being fast 13s isn't very impressive. IIRC 13s was with a supercharger too, it wasn't n/a.

Before anyone jumps on me I like hyundai just fine. I own an elantra with 175k original miles and still runnin strong. I have driven tibbys and I think they are fine I just hate the blind spots. I think the Genesis is a nice car wether it be the v6 or i4 turbo. The only problem I see with the car is the curb weight. The i4 turbo weighs 3439 and the v6 3549. I don't see the i4 turbo seeing a pass under 15 seconds with a weight like that even with ~220hp. The v6 will at least have the chance to see some 13s.
In all honesty I think the weight of the i4 kills what could have been a great car for hyundai. Its okay though I expect to see people pulling these engines out and putting them in their 1st gen tibbys that weigh a full 1000 pounds less and running high 12s.

i know everyone is going to lol at me but, i use to drive an accent. The interior peices were shitty, but, it took my abuse then some. I drove it harder then most trucks. I hauled motors in the back, out mudded a chevy Z71 (only cause i was floatting it) and would shift it when the valves started floatting. then i sold it to my bro in law and he had never drove a stick before this and it survived him. Hyundais mechancis are tons better then when they came out, they have good cars now. I like this new one as well. They just have to kick there bad name they got when they came out to fast to start with and did get good tests done and they fell apart.
