Guys how common is it for our cars to have a leak right at the steering rack and pinion? I noticed I was losing power steering fluid last week and found that it was at the steering rack..... Looks like I will be putting in a rack and pinion soon, fun, fun and more fun ;-)

Not common.
There are many places on the rack that can leak. Fittings and seals, or a crack or hole in it.

Ours is not too bad.
Even if you have to buy tools, it will be much better[$] than having a shop do it.
Even if you buy jackstands and a jack!
