Alright I know we have the whole run down on what spring rate is and what effects it. But what rate are you guys using on your cars?? And what did you do to determine this?
So far iv herd of 150 fronts and 180 rear.
I obviously want something quite a bit stiffer than stock, but not so rock hard that it beats my kidneys out.

Just go with the Eibach Pro Kit.

yeah, the best bet if you want comfort as well as stiffness is the eibach kit

^i've never seen them posted...maybe because they are cheap ebay springs.
i'm going with 420/380 for an autoX setup. for the street, a good aggressive spring that will still be decent for ride quality would be about a 250/200. it'd be about twice as stiff as stock, and not too hard IMO.
since you are getting the GC coilovers...you can always go softer or harder for only 60 bucks if you ever want to swap out the springs.

Ask if you can trade your springs for new ones w/ different rates?

The DZs are not cheap ebay springs... they are progressive rate springs that are dang good quality for the price. And I never saw them on ebay btw.

the point is..it's a budget spring. you get what you pay for..and i'm not trusting anything spring wise i can pick up for under 100 bucks.

just did a few searches trying to find the company that makes the DZ springs. all i can find are a bunch of fly by night speed shops that sell them...no info on the company. at least with GC you get the comfort of tech support and a number you can call if something goes wrong. is there a warranty on DZ's? also..i can't find ANYWHERE the spring rates for the DZ.

1. they're not under 100bucks.
2. if its cheap and good quality, why complain.
3. I currently run and have been running the eibach/tokico duo for 3 years and as soon as I tried DZ/tokico, I saw the difference and that the DZs are stiffer and better handling. However, if we were to listen to you, we would get the Eibachs cuz they are more expensive. WTF is this logic?
4. the zx2 is a "budget sports car", why do you drive one?

Yeah IDK... Im almost considering the DZ's... Iv herd alot of aparently positive things from guys on here about them. And im not about to drop $400 on a new custom set from GC... like TT said this is a budget car. Heck I have 5 other vehicles, this is not my sport car, I have a sport bike. And this is not a drag car, I have a Camaro. Point being, I just wanted to do a few easy mods to make driving this car more fun. Because I REALLY enjoy the road and driving. And this car stock brings the suck ESP being an ATX. SO its back to the drawling bord...
Im so torn as to what to do but I need to get it figured out soon and shipped cuz I plan on doing all this suspension work at the same time so I can knock it all out at once.

I got a set of H&R's off ebay for $150. They're almost $200 now. I think it was worth it, but I've never had a set of DZ's.

i Have only had the eibachs and love them but i'd be interested on some reviews of dropzone coilovers from someone that has had eiabch's and tokico's
I'd like the know the difference between the DZ and progressive if any? The spring rates are the same? Also what was the site people were buying the DZ's from?

So far I have had:
S/R set up: Overall a rather good pairing. Minimal drop with good handling and decent comfort
Intrax w/S/R Tokicos: I prefered this over the Eibach set up. THey are a progressive spring so until you pushed them they were alittle more forgiving but still handled well. Much better looking drop as well
GC's w/ S/R struts: For the spring rate that was sent to me it was a nighmare combo. The struts are way too soft to handle the 450/350 rates
--Put on old Mazdaspeed Struts w/GC's: A beautiful combo to me. Handle super well (even as beat as the struts are) and to me the car has the best looking drop when there is minimal to no wheel gap. You do have to be super cautious daily driving though. It ends up being very easy for most anything on the road to mess with the undercarriage.

i found a few sites with them for under 100
also..why do i drive one? because it does AWESOME in STS for SCCA solo autoX. i disagree that this is the car to have to mod on a budget...our aftermarket sucks, which means expensive aftermarket parts..if they are worth getting. get a honda civic and go to pep boys for a budget car. if budget means 8000 bucks just to get to STS specs, then w/e. civics can get to STS spec for a few grand.

I have DZ's on my car. The coilovers are supposedly crap, but the springs like I have are great. They aren't bouncy and it doesn't kill me on rough roads either.

Ground Controls are Eibachi IMO.
They are made to slam your ride basically and still provide performance springs. You can adjust them blah blah best in my book.
