so im thinking of gettin a stage 2 clutch to throw in since im droppng the engine and replaceing the tranny anyway. someone mentioned to me however that by puting a stage 2 clutch in, there will be little advantage in having it as well as it will put more ware on the slave cylender. if i do go for the stage 2 clutch, is there anything i can do to improve the slave cylender. having to replace the slave cylender after this job is not something i wana be doing anytime soon.

thanks
Matt

do you have a need for a stage 2 clutch? It will put more wear on the trans because its harsher. Why not get OEM or spec stage 1. Thats a nice step up and still OEM like[disc]

Mark, not true really. If he knows how to shift, he'll be fine.

I have a Stage 2. Do I need it? With full bolt on, probably, yes. Also, if you ever want to do more power (like me spraying) you will have that added grab.

I say go for it.

Thats really why i asked if he has a need first off. A stronger clutch will produce more drivetrain shock, there for wearing internals more. It's not a substansial difference, just over a long period of time. If its a plain out dd a spec one would be fine. If you have future plans on spraying.turbo, etc of course opt for the better.

as for right now, everything is stock, i am however thinking of the future and will (hopefully) eventually turbo. as for my shifting technique, every upshift i double clutch as for breaking i use heal toe breaking almost every time i break, so all in all i use the clutch alot. also if i go for a spec stage 1/2, and srry to sound like a noob, but does the spec clutch come with the pressure plate as well? ive done some light reading on the stubject but no in depth research.

thanks

Why would you double clutch? LOL

And yes, it comes with the pressure plate.

i started double clutching just to mess around with and practice and now its become second nature to me, idk i do it without even realizing it.

anyway im still leanin toward a spec clutch do you figure a stage 1 or 2? the car has like 135,000 miles on it, and am already having to rebuild the trans cuz i had a major problem with it, ill know better tommorow when its seperated from the engine on the ground, and im worried about wear, and having to do more repairs in short order.

If you plan on boosting go spec stage 2. Otherwise A spec stage 1 is a good little upgrade.

alright cool, thanks, as for my other origional question, i am curious as to if there is an upgrade to the slave cylander as well?

Not to my knowledge.

what the fuck is double clutching? I thought that you only did that on 18 wheelers or cars w/o synchros?

Double clutching is...

Say your in first gear, you reach desired rpm, clutch in, neutral, clutch out rev, clutch in, next gear, clutch out. Heavy trucks use this. No use for normal car's really at all...We have syncro's. It is the proper way to downshift. Heel-toe is another technique for that.

Everybody dreams of a turbo. It rarely occurs.
Then you should get a better clutch.

For the actuating system, throwout bearing, and thrust bearing's sake, use a stock one otherwise. Maybe a little stronger pressure, but what for? Is it really not able to handle your power?

The pressure plate on the Spec 2 feels the same as stock to me. The pedal pressure is the same. It is the friction disc that does all the holding in this case. I don't see a Spec 2 being an issue as far as wear or drivetrain shock goes. Besides, the shock would only come in play if you were lauching the piss out of it.
