I work at NAPA and we avoid selling just the timing belt because we have found its better to change all the components, and our garages have seen the same thing.

Get the kit. It's worth it.

Get the belt and all new pulleys and tensioner.
A bad pulley is what causes belts to walk or shred.

60k-100k. I did 100k, but I got the car with 82k. All my stuff was in great condition too. But, I put cam gears on so I figured what the hell.

change the crank gear while ur at it if u havent already. the original ones break and make ur belt slide off and eat away.

Red is correct, and if you replace everything and the crank makes it slide off, noone will take the belt back as a defect. Wasted money =/

The crank pulley is like $20, so it's not another Ford rip - it IS worth it.
One bad apple in the chain will spoil the whole bunch, and you only have to do this every 100,000 miles or so.
