i have built a transmission with a escape diff in it. you need at least custom 28-spline axles to make the escape transmission work. The escape has truck gearing, not the greatest for the zx2. i swapped some internal gears around from a few different transmissions to get the gearing just the way i want it.
The escape differential is considerably stronger than the zx2 differential... but by no means indestructible. its construction is much, much beefier than the zx2 diff. the escape also has an awesome 4.588:1 final drive!
oh, its not a simple solution by any means. it would be easier and cheaper to swap a mazdaspeed protege LSD into a transmission.
PM me if you would like any specific information.
