View Full Version : Has anyone cut the S/r shifter?

I was wondering if anyone has cut and sectioned the S/r shifter to make it shorter?

Just get the cheap knock off. Same thing just different materials. At the least you could practice on it then cut the S/R one.

why not just buy a TWM and sell the B&M

maybe cuz it FITS on the B&M (since it was STOCK on the S/R) and its on the TWM that it DOESNT. lol

i cut the shifter, i took the knob off and cut the threaded part so now the threaded part is smaller but i have about 8 threads.

it lowered the shifter noticably but didnt make any diffrence as far as firmness

So what if it's stainless, I'm not for destroying this quality peice (sell it and buy a TWM), but stainless is not known for it's tensile strength.

To anyone who says it's stupid or just get a TWM...:flipa:

I cut my B&M right below the threads and rethreaded the shaft about a year ago. You can do it with a hacksaw and an autozone tap and die kit. Easy. 10.25mm thread I believe. It does nothing to help or hurt proformance. It's all about looks...

Then sir you bought the wrong car if you wanted that



As for cutting the shifter. I took about 2inch of the top of my stock one, and torched the shaft and bent it while in 2nd. I'm cheap and this is a DD. Not race car. So I did it for looks and make the shifter closer to me since my seat is all the way back.
