I'm wondering too cause I've heard bad things about stuff not sticking to cast stuff... and a piece of slag could ruin gears and synchros and destroy a tranny if it came off... so I'm curious to anyone else as to what they've heard of or experienced...

Hm... I thought of an alternative DaviDawg... I have a tap set... I wonder if it would be okay to tap that hole and pinion shaft... and put a small bolt in with a lock washer and RED thread lock...(getting rid of the pin completely) seems like it wouldn't move and be much safer that way... hmmmm
What do you think guys? I think it's safer than I tach weld...

i would do what you said then use an arc welder

As in do the bolt method then weld? hm... I wonder how hard it would be to take apart again if I ever had to... then again I don't see a reason why I'd ever have to take it apart... Unless something broke... in which case, I'd have bigger problems....
The whole reason for the bolt was to get rid of the slag chance... if you welded over the bolt you still have that potential of it coming off... Dammit why doesn't Quaife just make us an LSD....

Because if Quafie made a LSD for the Zx2, it would cost $800-1000 and NO one would buy it.
Well, maybe like 10 people over the next 2 years.

not really. there is AT LEAST 10 ppl ready to pay the 1500$ to fit the MSP LSD in... why not pay third of the price to get the quaife... I would. No hesitation.

Same here, I'd buy the Quaife and then a nice set of ZXtuner heavy duty axles :)
at least... I would with my next tax return :) haha

i guess nobody can answer the question. only time will tell if the weld will hold for me but the pin doesnt see any action so i think itll hold. tap the hole and bolt through it black. take pics too.

i saw some that they completly weld the pin to the diff case ... but if you need to remove the pg after your screwed...

Grind the welds down to remove the pin in the future. With whatever air tool gets in there.
Lock screws are common on factory cars. If properly placed and locktited in, they should work just fine.

If you use a new roll pin there most likely would be no problem. Or, you could drill the hole in the case and thread it to use the screw in type.

I dont see why that wouldn't hold.

Why not just go get a new roll pin? Is that too easy or something?

yeah, i don't understand how welding a roll pin in place is going to help you out at all...unless it just won't stay in. then in that case, go get a new 10 cent roll pin.

its the reason my trans blew the last time and i feel safer if it were welded plus it was easier to just weld in place instead of getting all cleaned up and driving to the store. the welder was telling me to use her, and i couldnt resist.

Wait, you are supposed to clean up before going to the store? Wear your grease like a badge of honor!
