I Don't know why, but that is irrelevant...

I usually take a drive when I feel like this, but between gas prices and a few other things, I'm not going to do that.

So my question to you guys is this: what do YOU do when you feel uncontrollably depressed?

I usually spend a lot of money on worthless crap thats fun at the time but then regret it later... not great advice sorry... working on ur car does wonder too tho even if nothin needs to be done just take some stuff apart and put it back together to waste time and get ur mind off whatever it is bothering you

My favorite music helps me, or sleep, or something else I enjoy doing.

Seriously, if you are that depressed, take the drive.. it's worth the $$ IMO.

Like others mentioned... Listen to music, work on car, play a computer game or 360... anything to keep yourself preoccupied

I mope around, sleep, think too much. Sucked before I was married, but now I have the wife to lean on and get me to laugh and be happy and distract me, so life is much better now. I've also been taken care of things that depress me one thing at a time to eliminate them.

I normally buy stuff that I normally wouldn't that makes me happy but ignore that fact that I can't afford it. Then afterwards, because of this, I'm more depressed because I have no money.....

drink a whole bunch of nyquil, and jerk it. try to get off before you fall asleep. it's a win-win scenario.

LOLOL

Anyways, like most people here I work on my car or some other project.

I'm kind of in the same boat, but working nonstop seems to keep my mind off things for a little while.

Exercise (releases natural anti-depressants), eat well, be active, try to place yourself around good people and place yourself around often.

A few years back, it used to be video games, but now its relaxed driving to a few places I know of in the area to help unwind. Whether its a place to go running, fond memories, it helps me big time.

Since I live in the cool part of WI I personally like to go for a drive in the country. For the most part I can just unwind, and I just have to watch out for slow vehicles, and the rare cop. I don't know about your car but mine gets around 35 Mpg so I don't care too much about gas. My other alternatives are paintballing (costs way more than gas, at least for me), hiking, biking, photography(also costs more than gas), and messing around online.

If you are depressed for more than a couple of days, consider seeing a professional and stop looking for help in an automotive discussion group...

Seriously, depression is no laughing matter.

Well, if anyone is concerned, I'm feeling better now.

I think I actually found the root of my unhappiness, and i'm going to bore all of you with it, lucky you!

The reason I been depressed is because I haven't been happy. Why haven't I been happy? Because I have been trying to ACHIEVE happiness. I have a mind that tells me that I'm not happy because I haven't earned it. I'm trying to re-train myself into thinking that happiness is not something you earn by getting high grades, bowling well, having a bunch of friend, having a girlfriend, having a fast car, being strong, etc.

I dunno, I think this is a major turning point in my life. I now know what happiness is NOT...now I have to find what it is...

this is gonna be a long road...

You could always try the book " The Secret". Puts life into a different perspective and can help you overcome negative thoughts, by making them positive thoughts. Also helps you deal with other situations in your life.

I personally enjoy making other people's lives better. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really like making life better for those around me, so life is just that much more enjoyable for my friends and I. Besides no one likes to be around a depressing person, or an ass.

I write...start daydreaming about something that would make you happy. Even if it's completely impossible. Just write about it, it will almost feel like you were really experiencing it. It works for me anyway, it helps me get the mental image. I hope that helps.
