Ok, it's like this.....

This is my 98 fuel rail.

I've checked 2 other 98's and an 01 an none of them have this sensor

It's the white topped one in the pic

I'm thinking it may be a fuel temp sensor......

yes i believe it is. some of the 98's had the fuel temp sensor

Why would one have to monitor fuel temp?

Can adjust timing for slightly better performance. Don't have to monitor it, thus the rarity.
