Hey everyone. I was wondering if anyone had the install directions for zxtuner's black box. I'm looking to sell mine, and would prefer to sell it only with the directions. If someone knows where I can find a pdf or anything on it, that would be very helpful. Thanks.

Have you asked the person that sells the blackbox for the instructions? He would be the most likely person to posses them.

Yeah, good idea. I e-mailed him at zxtuner.

Has he remade his account since the meltdown? Because a PM might work better...dunnos though.

And also, I remember someone had made my same request a long time ago...just hoping someone has it.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. Step on the brake pedal momentarily to expel all remaining current.

2. Remove the center console covers, cup holders, and shift knob and boot.
a. Slide front seats fully forward and remove the 2 phillips screws on each side of the rear hand brake part of the console. Set the hand brake and then lift the rear console up and over the hand brake lever.
b. Slide the front seats fullt back. Remove the 2 screws that secure the front console to the tunnel. Unscrew the shift knob. Remove the 4 push pins on the front sides of the console.
c. Then, while holding the center console cubby or ashtray in place, lift and pull back the front center console/shifter cover.

3. Disconnect the PCM and tap into the wiring harness.
a. Below the console cubby or ashtray will be your PCM (engine computer). Remove the bolt (10mm socket) securing the harness plug to the PCM.
b. With a small screwdriver, pry open the white harness cover on the passenger side of the console. In the harness, find the following 5 wires:
PIN 38 - Blue w/ White Stripe - ECT Sensor Input Wire
PIN 39 - W hite w/ Green Stripe - IAT Sensor Input Wire
PIN 71 - White w/ Red Stripe - PCM 12V+ Switched Power
PIN 89 - Red w/ White Stripe - Throttle Position Sensor
PIN 24, 51, 77, or 103 - Black w/ Yelllow Stripe - Ground

4. Install and wire in the Black box on the car.
a. Find a suitable location near the PCM to locate the Black Box. Behind the HVAC box is a good location. On the Black box, there are 2 groups of wires - The Power Group and Sensor Group of wires:
POWER Group (3 wire set - do not cut - these wires "tap together" with the PCM harness wires)
RED - 12V+ Tap to White w/ Red Stripe on harness
WHITE - 0 to 5V+ Throttle Position Sensor Tap to Red w/ White Stripe on harness
BLACK - Ground to Black w/ Yellow Stripe on harness
SENSOR Group (4 Wire set - these wires connect to each end of the cut harness wires)
GREEN - IAT Connection #1 - to first White w/ Green Stripe wire end on harness
WHITE - IAT Connection #2 - to second White w/ Green Stripe Wire end on harness
RED - ECT Connection #1 - to first Blue w/ White Stripe wire end on harness
BLACK - ECT Connection #2 - to second Blue w/ White Stripe wire end on harness
b. Connect the Wires to the harness as listed above. The Power Group wire connections use the 3 wire taps supplied. The Sensor Group wire connections connect in line with cutting the existing wire, each cut going to a different wire end. Also, connection #1 and connection #2 for each of the sensor wires are in no particular order, meaning as long as all the wires are connected, it will work.

6. Reconnect the PCM harness to the PCM and the Battery Negative Cable (In that order).

7. Test for correct connections.
a. Turn the ignition key to the "On" position where the oil pressure lamp illuminates - now press on the throttle to the floor. You should hear a faint "click" come from the black box whenever the gas pedal is fully depressed. If you did, all connections should be ok. The click indicates the box is reading the TPS sensor correctly and is activating as it should.

8. Replace the Console and Shifter assembly in the order opposite of removal. You're now ready!

*Just got this e-mailed to me from Rob at zxtuner. Just thought I'd post it up here for anyone else to view. With that, the purpose of this thread is completed. A mod can lock it or whatever they desire. Thanks.
