it's almost impossible to drift in the zx2 since its FWD. yes you can do it w/ the e-brake but you can't true drift.

One of the drifting schools in california would teach people how to drift with a ZX2(nick holgan from holgan knows best was in this show and learned on a zx2 i think). This is called e-brake drifting. I have done it and i only attemt when the roads are wet/snow covered. snowboardingny has some videos of him doing it in the snow.

Oh and this would be best in the Spirted driving section.

i personally wouldn't consider e-brake drifting, to be true drifting like on G-4. It works but also wears out ur e-brake real fast...

If you want to drift in a 4cyl RWD car, get a Miata.

i have (e-brake) drifted many many many times in my z before and although many think its stupid, i enjoy the fun of it. Call me a noob id care. Its quite exiting and i helps you learn how to get control of your car in sliding/extreme situations. Il take anyone on in a fwd drift comp..... hahaha go ahead make fun of me its all in fun

ps. 270 reverse 180 turns and 360slides are the best.

Why don't people ever drift RWD V8 cars? Too much torque?

Uhhhhh. Falken Tires fields a Mustang GT in Formula D. And Rhys Millen used to drift a GTO. And Sear's Solstice is V8 powered... And there was a Viper in Formula D...

Sorry, maybee I should have been more specific.....

Why don't average joes pick a v8 car to drift with? Every time I hear someone wanting to get a car to drift with, it has to be an I4 or V6 and none of them can seem to explain why.

probably because of cost.

probably because of cost.

There you go. And because normal people who have V8s want to go forward, not sideways. The little Japanese I4s and V6s are what drifting started with, so the real JDM freaks like to stick with that.

i tried to ebrake drift once......cost me $150 to fix my car afterwards

people don't use v8's cuz they are heavy and torque sensitive unless modded right. You can pick up a mustang at a swap meet for $1500 but its extremely hard to controll drifts in a car like that. Most(not all) drift cars are just lightweight cars with a good suspension. Anything over 300whp is way to much to try to control exspecially for an amature. Its easier just to get a 4-6banger(already light) and redline the crap outa it than to deal with the torque play (and weight) on v8s.
Reason why rx7's and 240sx's are comon in drifting. Stiff suspension/redline happy/1200lbs stock

P.s. That formula D mustang gt (falken tire) car is driven by Drift Alliances JR Gitten who is exceptional in the sport and has also drifted an old camaro.
