ALot of people say use motorcraft because others have been known to fail. I used a gates timing belt kit off rockauto.com They have prices you'll like. I would also buy a waterpump and install that while your at it.

a timing belt kit comes with idler pulleys which yes, runs through the waterpump. Your right down by the waterpump. It's real easy.

Our timing belt has nothing to do with the water pump. Check it for leaks and replace it if necessary, though.
Get all new pulleys, tensioner, and possibly a $20 crank pulley from Ford with your new belt.

I was wondering if anyone would catch that. The water pump on the Zetec is driven by the serpentine belt. On the SOHC engines it is driven by the timing belt.

Open the hood and look. It is driven by the serpentine belt, just like the alternator or power steering pump.
