awesome! the only thing i can see that would not be on there..is the distinction between 2nd and 5th gear in the 98's. also, some of the gearshafts were equal length with a spacer before the top nut...some had one shaft shorter. also, there are a couple different 5th gear variants in the 99.5+...some have 3 little tabs with a retainer spring and a bearing fork with a rod that goes into the shift fork area....and some just had a brass synchro with two solid half-circles. i'll get pics sometime, but this is a MAJOR help to those of us fixing our own transmissions!

OK...i went through and corresponded the numbers on the diagram to the part numbers listed in the lists...since there's no reference to what number is what part. a few warnings...i may not have all of them right, and there are still several parts shown in the diagram which i have not been able to positively identify...i need some kind of clarification on the shift rail assembly. there are also parts that are not listed on either the diagram or the lists....like the detent plate, the magnet, the oil spout that directs oil to 5th gear, the spring and ball assemblies, drain plugs, some bearings...and im not sure if the input shaft seal is the same as the axle seals (side seals).

a-friggin-mazing! thanks!!!
in that first picture...part number 12 is part of what's different in the later model transmissions. you can also see the spacer before the nut on the output shaft that goes on top of the 5th gear to accomidate the longer shaft!

I went to Ford a long time ago and they gave me a list like that of all the part numbers, it's long gone from me though.

Well according to all the Ford Dealers I called today the differential parts are discontinued items. I found one pinion gear and thats it. I called all around the country. Does anyone know who might actually stock these parts? Or maybe the mazda part#'s. I'm two little gears away from having my trans back. I found two in Moscow.http://www.vip-service.ru/auto/spares/index.html?page=132 Now I just 1122.00 rup.

i think it's shitty how they discontinue parts on such new cars. i thought manufacturers were supposed to provide parts for 10 years after the model was discontinued....which would be 2013.

It is very shitty. I'm going to go by one of the gear shops in town and see what can be used as a substitute. The differential gears and pinions look the same as those in any other diff. Just need to find the right size. I guess everyone needs to upgrade if there diff breaks. If someone could get the Mazda #s or the Kia #s that would probably help.
