So today, I got to take one of our new gxp solstices out. I took the one with the higher milage (100 or so miles on it) and went out for a spin.

Took it down, put some premium in, and went out to the boonies. We have plenty of relatively straight runs, and some good twistys around here. Seeing as how I live in the valley, it can be interesting.

So I thought I would turn the TC off, and just play with it. Get out there, took to speeds I won't mention, and then started to come back in.

A few miles away from work a car pulls up next to me. I have the top down and I'm just relaxing. The SOB reved at me.

I look over, it was either a stealth or a 3000gt. So I figure it is time to see what my toy can do. Turn the TC back on, hold it steady at about 3k, he bounces of the rev limiter.

Mind you, now is a good time to let you know about this road. It is straight for about 14 miles. It runs between the two towns along the alleghany river. Nothing really on it aside from a steel mill and a few fast food places.

So, light turns green, I hardly chirp the tires, I hear the turbo spool, and he gets about half a car on me. So I run it out to about 30 in first, shift it into 2nd. Start to pull on him. Second I pull till around 55 or so, I am starting to pull away from him. Run third to around 80, then we start to get up by the fast food places.

Light turns red, he pulls up to me, asks me what I have done to it. I turn at tell him it's stock turbo. He gives me a thumbs up, light turns green, and we keep on going at the speed limit.

Get back to work, everyone asked if I was having fun. Most people take all of the new cars out for a few hours at least once. "Product knowledge". I told them I did. Owner starts telling me how he took the same car to around 130 when it first came in. I got to talking with him. About how it isn't the comfiest car, but it isn't made for comfort. He tells me he will bring in one for me to play with tomorrow.

The first 08 that came onto our lot he bought. Mysterious black, he has less than 1k miles on it. He said he found some company that does tuning for it, and he is guessing it should be at around 320 or so. Of course, that is what the company said, I don't have numbers to prove it though.

All in all, best job I have ever had. Luckily out new g6 gt should be coming in soon. 360 some off horses, black on red leather. Not bad for a sedan built down under.

9.50 an hour, plus comision. Add to that that I can take a car any time I want during the day, and I have to sign it out at night. Health benefits, and when you factor in spins, comision, straight pay, and bonuses, I figured this out the other day.

If I say 1 car every three days (mind you there are six of us in sales. We have been averaging 55-65 a month). I should be making about 64k a year.

Mind you, that is rough figures with 50% being new at 100 a pop, plus 100 for a spin for each. Then take the average one for a used car. 300 for me, and the bonuses vary. One van has an 800 bonus because we can't sell it. Most others have about 400. Then factor in after selling so many cars I make a straigh bonus upfront.

Also, I can sell our protection package. It's undercoating, detailing, and a fresh coat of clear. And I get 100 for selling that.

I have a chance to make some really good money. The one guy started in november. He just picked up a truck. 53 chevy of course. He is also driving a new vibe, has a g5 demo, and owns a campsite.

I will admit. Our prices are outrageous on some of the cars. However, our new cars only have 500-800 markup.

Very much so.

Well, he brought that other solstice in. Has the optional windscreen, and a few other subtle touches.

It really does have alot more pull than the stock gxp. And the stock one pushed me back in the seat. 0-60 in 5.3 for the stock.

One thing to look at. I have been a dish washer, a bartender, a senior technician (for an ISP), a restaurant manager, and in radio sales. That is all in the past few years. I'm not counting the part time summer jobs when I was in high school.

With luck and skill, selling cars can be quite profitable. Bonuses, comision, and the perks are all very nice. However, with gas prices the sales on our trucks have taken a bit of a hit. That is why our used cars are selling for so much. Everyone wants a little car. We have a good selection of used ones, don't get me wrong. However, I think the prices are a bit steep.

16k for an 03 mustang v6. Chipped, exhaust, udp, valve job, blueprinted, and nitrous.

However, it has like 12k miles on it and is in spectacular condition. All of our used cars are in great shape. Thats why we can make such a profit on them.
