as it states up top... im curious.

pullapart advertises 9.43 with a 2.03 core charge for calipers
spindles are 17.22 with a 2.03 core charge (lets assume you can sneak the hub out with that)

that in and of itself runs you 61.42 w/o tax
now you've gotta go to the autostore....
throw in new seals for the calipers ~40
new brake lines ~25
rotors ~40
new retainer nuts ~6
pads ~35
brake cables ~ 72
and a spring/ guide set ~6

that runs you 224.00
so total we're lookin around 285.50

am i correct on this, or are you guys going a cheaper route?

and this doesnt include the fact that you may be replacing bolts...

If you count the fact that I bought an s/r that was totaled. Stripped it out. Sold the parts I didn't want and made the money back on the car....free

Plus Hawk HPS pads and R1 rotors all around. As well as stainless brake lines. So about another 250-300 bucks.

my set up cost me 90 whole dollars from a junkyard on a half off weekend. this included everything from the swap. calipers, rotors, pads(they were almost new), e-brake lines and arms. oh plus a sway bar, yeah.

and knuckle

i guess my thing is, is it really worth it (from an actual braking performance aspect) for me to do this swap? is the almost 300 dollars going to make my braking that much better?

EGT subframe (wanted RSB) - 125
bolts - 20
caliper rebuild kits - 10
SS hoses (4) - 100
Brembo drilled rotors (4) - 320
EBC pads (f & r) - 120
brake fluid - 5
rear disc master cyl - 200

Total about $900

Had two ZX2s at the time. Could tell a subtle, but real, difference in the feel of the brakes. The rear drum car was very low mileage at time, so the brakes on it were good. The rear disc car had a more linear feel to braking. Hard to describe.

Your average price for a complete rear swap is more twards the $500 mark. That includes having to buy a used set of rear disks, a caliper rebuild kit , rotors and pads, and any extra bolts you might need as well.

Is it worth it?? Yes and no. It's obivious your stock set up is absoutly fine. There's nothing wrong with a stock braking system. If you upgrade a stock system with stainless lines, new pads and rotors up front, it makes one helluva difference over stock braking action. Add a complete rear set up, you've improved a little more than before. So on and so forth...

So back to the question, "Is it worth it?"
If your actually asking this question, then no it is not worth it for you to get the rear disk set up. You are questioning the cost rather then questioning the ability of the rear disk to aid in better braking situations. Which to me means you have no reason to need better braking (as in rear disks) because you have yet to actually need better than stock braking.

Really hope this make sense.

Word of advise.....money should never be an issue if saftey or improved saftey is the main concern. :batnana:

the brakes i have are plenty safe enough, im not considering rear disc for safety, more for looks and increased braking performance. not because i've been stopping unsafely lately. its kinda like looking at the obx header and the jba shorty. i have emissions testing here, so the jba is what i want, but for the price the obx would be a better choice for me. do you see where im going? i dont need rear discs. i just wanted peoples input about whether or not they were satisfied with the results for the amount of money they spent.

all the stock EGT hardware from Mac: 200
powder coat (just the powder, i coated them): 20
cross drilled rotors: 40
hawk pads: 30
SS lines: 80
replacing sheared/stripped bolts: 30
replacing long LCA bolts: 36

so 436 total.
