Time for an oil change...suggestions?

Next time i get paid im'ma change mah oil....

My 1998 zx2 has abour 145,000 miles on it. I'm MUCH more worried about longevity and durabilty than performance.

My step-dad says we can just put in what he puts in his Charger, but i'm not so sure...>_>

sae 10w 30 works the best
its up to you if you want synthetic or not
synthetic is a little better on the motor with higher miles
it just depends on how much you drive it

Im using amsoil 5w30 and an amsoil extended life filter at 125000

I am pushing this one to see how the oil reacts.

It claims 10,000 mile changes(both filter and oil)...we will see.

I've used supertech 5w30[dino or synthethic] all the car's life. 105 ish thousand miles It is a pretty damn good oil, cheap too. Sometimes i get Motorcraft semi-syn 5w20 or 5w30. ANother good choice. 5 quart jug's are cheaper btw... And, I thought 10w30 was too much for the VCT?

I use Pennzoil High Mileage 5w30 in all of my cars. No issues at all, no sludge, oil goes 4000 miles and still looks good, could go 5000 but I don't.

It's in a bronze-colored bottle and is a good price.

I have 179k on mine. I run Motorcraft or Penzoil platinum 5w20 with a Motorcraft FL2005 filter.

I've been using Mobil 1 Synthetic nearly since I bought the car. I can still go 5000 miles between changes on my turbo car without issue.

Don't use a 10-30.

The oil is thicker when cold for no good reason. Critical flow is reduced at that time.
0-20,5-20,0-30,5-30 are good choices. Mix them if you want to to split the difference.
Full synthetic oil is best for long oil change intervals and turbocharged engines. For 3-5,000 mile changes, a dino or semi synth is great.
