It doesn't really say what he was doing when they caught him doing that. Was he chasing a speeder or just doing it because he thought it would be fun?

Doesn't Ontario also crush the cars involved in street racing???! that would be funny seeing a police cruiser being crushed.

Not really. They're so strict about their new law they're even busting their own men. With such a law, you can get harsh penalties for stretching your cars legs a bit.

Under the street racing law, which went into effect last September, a driver caught speeding 50 km/hr or more above the posted limit can have their liscence and vehicle seized immediately. The maximum fine for the crime was also bumped up to $10,000.

Dumbest law ever. Speeding and street racing are not always related. And for those who are lazy, 50 kph is approximately 31 mph. I've done 31 over many times, and I wasn't racing anyone any of those times.

The only thing I can think of is that song "O-P-P, yeah you know me!"

31 MPH over? what if you are doing 160 in a 60?

I'm not aware of the crushing law.... the guy who proposed the law wanted that.... but I don't think it happened.

And yeah speeders are not always street racing.... I hope they change the law to reflect that fact, but who knows....

I like how the penalties are more harsh for street racing then drunk driving.

The cop that was charged was 'heading back to base'. I presume he was going off the clock and wanted to get home in a hurry. It also sounds like they didn't do anything on the spot and took some time to review the file before formally charging him with the 50+ law...

In other news...
