/sarcasm

so my work blocked the internet. I have 4 widgets and a proxy open pretty much all day every day...so they turned me off.

so at lunch I worked through it because I had nothing to do. yay for me!

if you are wondering I am on my pocket pc right now. I wish I had brought my cable for my phone so I could use it as a router.

oh well.

Is this going to be permanent?

I dunno if its perm or not...I got no notice.

regardless, my phone is about the same speed as the net here. if I remember my cable lunch will be back to normal.

if I would have left my comp on at home my remote desktop might have worked too...

Sounds like a quick drive home for lunch.

You can't remote desktop without internet or being in the same intranet as the computer you're trying to connect to remotely. Sorry dubbs.

id be mildly bothered, sounds like you found yourself a nice little way around it though. i can work from my own laptop (that work paid for) so i will never have this problem :)

Sure you will. While you are in your office they are in complete control of what you can and can't access.. wether it be through VLANS or simply denying you access to a wireless access point. They own you.

i dont work from an office. work is wherever i choose it to be. the wireless internet card that is on my verizon account (that im reimbursed for) allows me access wherever i get service to the phone.

They only shut down the one part of the net. I still had all access to the local settings and could still get on our network. I set my phone up as a router and I've been on since. :monkeybutt:

You still need access to the internet to remote desktop.. which if you had, would eliminate the need to remote desktop out. Unless I am misunderstanding what you're saying.

Inter connect goes between phone and usb. Open my active sync. Instant internet.

Done.

And the port for getting on my ftp accounts was not blocked due to the system they use here for file storage. However, everything else was. So yea...even if my comp was on it wouldn't have worked. But as you can tell, I am clearly on the internet.

Ohhhhh you were talking about going through your phone to remote desktop? See, that is what I missed. :p

I can see that. So am I.
