View Full Version : Random overnight outages?

The last couple of nights I have had issues with getting to the site. I keep getting a server timeout. Any clue as to what is going on? I know I am not the only one.

it seems to be a common issue that the site drops alot.

Vit runs server updates and back-ups often. The site isn't dropping. It's the guys in the background making sure what happened last time doesn't happen again.

Heh I just noticed this... People are seriously noticing a 4-5 minute span of time around midnight when the DB server is locked for backups?

Wow... try sleeping :p

its rarely ever down, very very very few times i cant get in for a hour or two. i wasnt sure what was up but now i understand server work

I have yet to notice any hour or two down time... My ISP has cleaned up their act fairly well and the connection has been stable for a couple months now. The replaced a core switch that the server used to be connected (it was flakey).
