The leather is failing on both of these in my SR. The wheel is the CC wheel in dark char. (not the SR leather-wrapped) with the polished black leather. The SR knob is losing the war on my mad shiftin skizzles right behind the shift pattern where the leather tucks under it.
I need to know who re-covers these, here. I thought it was Josh (yellow2000s/r), but a phone call calcelled that idea. So who can point me to someone to get this taken care of? I have a spare wheel from my 98 (lt. gray) that I can suffer with, and I'll grab a ricer knob from AZ or Walmart to suffice til it's done.
I'm sick of the feel of the wheel, mostly. the polish has worn from the area between 11 and 1 o'clock, and gets mushy when there's high humidity. I tried using shoe polish on it, but that was phail, as well.
Thanks in advance!...

if your wheel gets mushy in high humidity, then it is probably really dirty. Use a white towel and leather cleaner to clean your wheel. You should notice the part you mentioned make the towel very dirty, very fast. To speed the process, try soap and water followed by the leather cleaner when most of the dirt is removed.

a car I once had was so dirty that I thought the leather was cracked. The leather wasn't cracked, the dirt was cracked.

Replied to your PM, jj.
Darrell, I've tried cleaning it with soap and water, but it stays the same. It's almost like the abrasive properies of the dirt (actual dirt ) took the polish off.
Besides there's a "dimple" in the wheel under the leather wrap that doesn't allow the leather to lay taut @ 1 o'clock. I'll try soap and water again tho.
