ps3 or 360?????

gonna take the plunge. im all for ps3, ive been a playstation guy since day one and recently bought an xbox about 1.5 yrs ago. I like it too. Ive heard tons of horror stories with xbox360 but i hear its all fixed with the new ones.... I just dont know which one i want. Only a difference of 50 bucks between the two. I NEED forza 2 so im leaning towards 360 lol. Help.

to be honest my opinion i think the 360 price wise im a playstation fan but you might as well buy a computer then by the ps3 seeing that there both a computer

PS3 has HDMI
Not all Xbox 360s do

PS3 has bluray (a standalone player will cost you $300+ anyways)
Xbox 360 used to have HD DVD for $150 more

PS3 has a laptop harddrive that can be swapped out.
Xbox 360 uses a special HD that is costly to upgrade

PS3 has 6 axis (simular to Wii mote) or rumble controllers
Xbox 360 does not

PS3 has a good internet browser
Xbox 360 does not

PS3 controllers are rechargeable
Xbox 360 needs $20 battery packs

PS3 gets updated firmware as technologies increase (such as being upgraged to include bluray profile 2.0 and various HD surround options).
Xbox 360 does not

PS3 doesn't break

PS3 has been out long enough that the games being released are starting to get better. Don't let just the games that have come out in the past couple years be your judge of the consul. There is so much more you can do with a PS3 than the Xbox 360 can ever hope to.

Try and write a list of what Xbox does that PS3 does not. You will only say "oh there are better games on the xbox than the ps3" and "xbox live is sooooo much better than PSN." If these two reasons outweigh ALL of the reasons PS3 is better. Than it looks like your going to be just another Xbox 360 owner.

Ps3 controllers suck, the reasons people say its better don't matter to most people, the live game play sucks. I don't have the time or desire to find all the reasons I like my 360 better than a PS3 nor do I care to research and find out all the technical differences.

However I have played lots on both consoles and still think 360 is far more enjoyable and has better titles and all the arguments I hear for PS3 involve features that make it more of a multimedia console and I think the comparison is not based on "gaming" Ps3 does have more extra's but for pure game play I will keep my 360. I could afford both but I have no desire for a ps3.... :rocknana:

ok here is my take i now own a ps3 wii and a 360. the xmb is very simple to use over the 360 dashboard. with the dashboard i find that more often the not i have to go back and try again to select what i wanted. online with wifi is a great thing even for gaming. i have never had any lag or anything close to it with wifi. 360 i can't even get online with it. i have no hard lines in the basement. but as far as which one to get first look at the games you like to play. i like rpgs so i went with the ps3 first. as far as the wii goes im not sure why i have it...

Like I said in my first post, I've owned both. That makes me qualified to talk all the poo i want about the Xbox 360. It was a GREAT game console when it came out. Now, it lags so far behind in technology its going to get left behind and need to be replaced with a new one that might put it on par with the technology inside the PS3.

Following is a bunch of random thoughts because i'm still technically asleep :).

When you take the total of the Xbox and all the add ons you need to make it semi-compairable to a PS3, it dwarfs the price of the PS3.

The Xbox 360 feels more like a child's toy than anything else.

Wifi is great. I don't know too many people who don't already have it in their home...

Once you get a HDTV and say, man I have a 360 and now i want to play bluray, boom your out another $300+.

PS3 has room to grow with the updates and over advanced hardware in it.

If I had to choose all over again knowing what I know, I wouldn't even consider the outdated 360. Of course, it's not my money, its the OPs. I'm curious how many 360 owners are just upset they bought a POS (that they've probably returned twice already for RROD) and they can't afford to change over to the PS3 because of all the games and add ons they already bought. You're only losing out on Halo *shrug*

I mainly like to play first person/ third person shooter's like medal of honor, call of duty, and rainbow 6. I LOVE forza though. I was leaning towards the ps3 in the beginning then 360 because of forza. Im gonna have to put some gaming time into both of them and then decide.

1. Take a PS3 and play the same game on a 360 side by side on the same TV through HDMI at 1080p and you can't tell the difference with the naked eye.
2. Take a PS3 and play a blu-ray movie on the same TV through HDMI at 1080p and watch a 360 playing a HD/DVD side by side and you can't tell the difference with the naked eye.
3. XBOX 360 Elite = $449.00, way cheaper than a top of the line PS3. Bottom of the barrel 360 = $379.00, still cheaper than a bottom of the barrel PS3.
4. If PS3 is so great, why are sales so bad, game library sucks, limited blu-ray support, etc etc etc.

It will suffer the same fate as the Dreamcast, way ahead of it's time for practical purpose.

Whoever said the PS3 is for more serious gamers, has no idea what they're talking about, plain and simple. The PS3 has a much smaller library of games, a declining list of exclusives, and side-by-side tests on multi-platform titles will show you that they don't look "better" than games on the 360.

It's all personal preference... if you want a Blu-Ray player and the ability to play games, buy a PS3. If you want an undeniably strong library of solid games and a great online network, buy a 360.

It's about as simple as that... for what it's worth... I own both...
