hey guys i cant get my shifter out

i cant get the bolt loose that holds it i mean i can get the spring out but what should i do or what tools should i use??

i would get a wrachet and a wrench.

on the 2 that ive done in the past couple months, both shift linkage bolts were rusted between the bushings on the shifter. I had to pull the whole shifter assembly out of the car. No big deal. Just remove the 4 nuts inside the car, one bolt bracing it to the trans., and and the front shifter linkage bolt and the whole assembly will come out. Then you can have at it. I just put it in a vice with a socket over the bolt and popped her out.
