Shift Indicator Arrow?

I noticed an arrow pointing up that is located right above the "service engine soon" light. Is this supposed to tell me when to shift gears? If so why doesn't it ever light up? I read somewhere else a while ago that some other guy's didn't light up either.

I believe there isn't any L.E.D.s there, if you put them in I think it works. Either that or I think you may be able to enable it in SCT, i think the computers just don't tell it to light up.

Oh, I was just curious about it. I think I like it better not lighting up anyway.

It is turned on stock. There is no bulb.
