Not always, most people have a shop do it. I could do it myself, however with as much as I work I don't have any time. But, I get to use the lifts at work.

You don't need a lift, all I did was put a 2x4 over my engine bay, and used 4 tie downs to lower the tranny to the ground.

When it comes to the axle nut, just have a lot of patience and like a 20 foot breaker bar lol.

Only real tip is plan on this taking you a good amount of time, quite possible to take you more than a weekend.

I'll be more descriptive next time scort sorry haha. That would be nice to have a lift, I could use one at school but I probably wouldn't have enough time before school got out. Time shouldn't to bad. I've got another vehicle I can use and all summer if I have to lol. I'll see what I can do about that breaker bar haha.

A new pilot bearing and throwout bearing should be installed, even if you go without lunch for a few days.
Clean everything well and use moly grease on the throwout bearing stub and a LITTLE on the input splines and disc internal splines.
Grease the slave cyl pushrod and fork joint.
Check the rear main seal while you are in there.
Trans seals are easy to get to when it is out, so the same applies there.
Use a good trans fluid instead of ATF. Pennzoil Synchromesh or Redline MTL are easy to get and very good.
