I have built a machine and have been running since August 07. I am running windows XP-64 currently. I want to make the move back to XP 32 bit because I can't find properly working drivers for my printer, VPN software, cellphone, and etc.

My question is that I have this processor:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Windsor 2.8GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM2 89W Dual-Core

Will this work with XP 32 bit? I can't seem to find any good information. I know some people are running Vista 32 bit. So my best guess would be that 32 bit XP would be okay.

Below is the rest of my machine, just in case one of you computer hotshots see something that sets off a red flag.

OCZ SLI-Ready 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227198)

GIGABYTE GA-M61SME-S2 AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 6100 Micro ATX AMD Motherboard (http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128045)

Thanks in advance for your help!

OMG, your set up will work on XP 32 bit, you souldn't be running windows xp 64 or windows vista any version sucks.
In other words your set up works on 32bit and 64bit.
I'm running an amd athlon 3000 xp 333mhz, 1gb (512) x2 DDR 400 CL3, 40gb segate 7200rpm 8mb buffer ATA 133, Motherboard ASUS some shit, A crapy PSU, and it runs xp better then my quad core but not on gaming lol. I'm about to sell my quad core too bad i did not listen to my friends about how crappy intel is.
AMD all the way after pentium 3. I love Intel but only Pentium 3 and below.

Yeah I was pretty sure. I just didn't know if the processor was only set to run 64 bit or some shit because of the dual core and the '64' in the name.

This unit runs really well. I use it for my engineering software as well as CAD. The onboard graphics on the motherboard seem to be holding up quite well.

Plus I have it all wrapped in a polished stainless steel case.

Yes, you can run a 32-bit OS on a 64-bit processor. You just can't run 64 on a 32.

That is correct. Like buster said you can run a 32 on a 64bit proc.
Peter... Currently Intel has the advantage over AMD in high end processors but for a budget PC or office PC you could find a nice AMD for a better price then an Intel.
But, lets not Flame each other on this thread...

Currently I am running Vista x64 on mine. I have absolutely no problems with it. If you really want to keep your 64bit version of XP, I may be able to find you the drivers you need.

Edit: Oh yeah, if you are doing a lot of rendering I would suggest checking how much ram you are using. I think you should be fine since you are more likely to lag from your onboard video then running out of ram. Just keep in mind that a program that is 64bit compatible will run faster and smother on a 64bit OS then on a 32bit OS because you have double the processing power. Secondly 23bit only supports 3GB's of RAM with out a little bit of Reg edit. even then you can only get to 4GB and it will still use some of the ram for your onboard video. 64bit can support 16GB(windows xp x64) and 64GB(windows vista x64)

Hope that helps
