Seriously... Look at the cars in this mix. As technology has increased in cars to achieve MPG, short of the Insight, the mileage went down. Who cares what these older cares look like, look at the numbers they make for MPGs with out the help of an environmentally unfriendly battery pack.

Now imagine one of those with that battery pack. Can you say 100+ mpg.?

I hear ya man. Today's technology could put out 100 mpg. There's a reason they don't do it though, and that's cuz they want us to keep buying their gas. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but i believe they won't allow mileage on a car to go past a certain amount.

bah, if a semi hits you your dead with the best of 5star ratings... gemme 50mpgs in an upto date style car. even the new Smart (smaller than these older cars) only gets 35mpg. WTF

Up until VERY recently, Gas Milage was secondary to Performance or Power. People want the 5.7 litre Hemi's in their trucks, until Gas drove over $4/gal (which is still cheaper than most other countries).
Feel bad for the Canadians on here.. I read they were paying the equiv of $5+ a gall after converting Metric to Imperial..
I had a 96 Metro.. I loved that little car, but like EVERYTHING else, you have to pay to play..

All those cars get such great mileage cause of weight. We could better today if it wasnt for all the airbags and convenience items people want. New Civics shouldnt weigh 2800+lbs. Car companies really should make something small and fun again like the crx with no power anything and around 2000lbs.

ya, that Camry isn't exactly light, but likely with the amount of power it has, along with all the emenities, its 35mpg highway isn't that bad.
