Well its not technically a problem cuz i dont give a shit about the thing, but my friend wants me to ask around to see why his 200cc Yamaha Blaster will only start when its cold, with the choke all the way out, and only run until it warms up. After it gets hot enough, it just dies, and won't start up. it has spark for sure, cuz i just checked that. He mentioned maybe putting too much oil in the crank case...? it has an oil output line on top of the crank case, that was pushing all the overflow oil out of so i thought it would be fine. What is your opinions on this fix... I am sick of having to pull him home with my quad.

Unless it's oil injected I don't see why he would be adding oil in the crankcase....and even if it is oil injected it wouldn't matter how much he put in the case because it only injects a certain amount regardless of how much is there.

We had just re-assembled the top end. but we emptied the crank case oil. the 2 cycle oil is injected, there is a tank under the seat.

Check the choke cable too, they might have left it disconnected by accident, you can never trust those yamaha guys ;)

no choke cable. its right off the carb. when it dies when its warmed up, it doesnt start until its cold again.

from what i have heard about the blasters was that the oil injection systems are known to fail and lots of people just bypass and mix their own gas. but to me it sounds like a spark firing issue. iirc these quads have coils. and if they fail i would suspect that would be the issue right there. but then again i dont have one nor owned one... i just helped with rebuild a head that needed some additional bore due to no oil mixing

I are agree. My pitbike did the same exact thing. Replacing the plug wire fixed it.
