Ok so for real, why does everyone not have one of these (price= :[)

My car seriously sounds like hell is rising above the earth, lol. The butt dyno approves as well. From 4k on, it pulled like a race horse. I can't wait to get my fricken X3 so that I actually have a mildly quick car again.

Great mod, easy to install and highly recommended for everyone!

That big of an improvement off other intakes?

iceman is probably second in line

Spyke gained something like 9 whp (max) on his NA build. He already had a CTA or comparable.

Yes holy hell it really is like crazy good. I didn't expect it at all.

For people with full bolt ons, this is truly a must.

drews right. i had a 3" CTA with cold elbow. the 3" MMI SRI made 9whp/9wtq over the CTA (on my build), right in mid RPM's. no other changes were made on my car. thats pretty amazing!

a lot of us worked with mark in designing the MMI. one thing i was very persistant on was having the MAF location improved. 90% of the intakes available to us have a shitty MAF location. having the MAF too close to the filter messes up readings, due to turbulant air. the MMI MAF location is damn near to the stock loacation, including angle.

the couplers are a major improvement over any of the couplers ive seen on any other intake offered. most of all is the massive 3" 90-degree TB coupler. the CTA's TB design was borderline retarded. i bet most that have seen the CTA will agree and know what im talking about.

the SRI has what looks like 2 mild 45-degree bends that are inverted of eachother, with one 90-degree bend at the TB (cant do much about that).

the intake screams high quality. powder coated, laser etched, rugged mount that bolts perfectly to one of the holes for the origional airbox, beautiful welds, ss clamps, ect.

a lot of people complain that the price is too much, while its worth every penny. its priced about the same as the K&N, but out performs all over.

opting to buy an ebay intake over marks intake is like, installing an ebay "performance" chip over SCT. quality+performance=you get what you pay for.

his SN is DOHC V6.

his name is mark mantaray (sp?), hence MMI.

How much better are these over an iceman? mostly just asking cause other people might want to know

soo... if i cut up my iceman and move the maf closer to the throttle body, ill see gains. hmm...power for free. knowledge really is power.

no. the iceman uses the stock airbox and already has ideal placement.

dont know. i never had a chance to dyno the iceman based on my build.

iceman intakes are great, and even better when you chop off the 90° and use a better 90° coupler.

I don't get it. The stock location is right behind the air filter.

I think having the MAF close to bends is bad. The turbulence from bends gives less accurate readings.

That said, the way my intake is setup (Roush > MAF / adapter > 6" long 3" ID straight pipe > filter) would be more ideal than other setups, but produces pretty much the same as a stock Roush. When it's cold, it pulls more, but once warm, any difference is negligible. It sounds mean though. I'll have to post pics.
