I'm just wondering what size tire to get with 16" rims?

On a 40mm offset? Probably a 205/45, it will be a little smaller diameter than stock, so your gauge will be about 1mph off. You will also lose a little MPG on the highway too, and it will cause a slower 1/4mile time and trap speed, but you should benefit in AutoX.

215/45 will work as well...some good UHP tires like the Falken RT615 come in that size.

They may look nice but they are 1" bigger which will make your speedometer read slow and will decrease the acceleration.
The 215/45's sound good but there may be a problem with rubbing in the rear.

P205/50R16 is what I'm running on for the past 3 years without complaints. If you want to look mexican use wheel spacers.

I am currently running on a 205/40. A little less tire weight and slightly stiffer sidewall. It is just my preference though.

They are over an inch smaller that stock. More revs per mile.

I had 205/40R16's for maybe 1 week after I found out that I ran .6 seconds slower on the 1/4 mile with them vs the 50 profile. It looked nice on my speedometer but of course that was way off going almost a full inch down in overall diameter from stock.

So you ran SLOWER with a smaller diameter and lower weight wheel & tire combo? Unless you had "off the line" issues isn't that kind of backward (bigger/heavier wheel combo should equal less acceleration...right?)?

I have the Eibachs with the 205/40s on 16s and it has too much wheel gap still. I also don't like the speedo being off.
I'm about due for new tires now and I'm going to go with the 205/45/16s this time.

205/50/16. Without a doubt.
205/45 will put your speedo off by 5 mph.. not 1. I know, I ran them.

Usually the larger the diameter, the slower the acceleration....

205/50/16 on progress springs.
Rubbing, useing 205/50/16's shouldn't be an issue but it may depend on how the sidewall of the tire is made.
I've ran two set of tires, the first were Cooper with absoutly no rubbing issues what so ever, and I tried real hard to get'em to rub. The second set, which I'm currently running are the Dunlop Signature Series. Both brands were 60K mile tires with the same tread and temp ratings. Both are considered to be in the sport/touring aspect of tires. Under hard turning conditions I had a rub. Turns out the dunlop has a "curvier" side wall. A little Dremel action to the fenders and 10 minutes later.......no rubbing. :wiggle:
Long story short....205/50/16's are awsome. It's a popular size and you can find solid sports tires or "touring" tires almost everywhere in any brand name you want at fair and great prices.......BUT you could rub a tiny little bit depending on the manfacture of the tire itself.

Awesome. Thanks for all the input, i'll be picking up some new tires soon once the cash flow gets a little better.

The rubbing issue also depends on your rim width and offset obviously. I have a set of 16 x 7 rims wearing 205/45-16's with a 40mm offset where the rim edge will slightly hit the Tokico strut barrel(rear only) just enough to polish off the paint when the suspension is compressed. The tire itself has no signs of rubbing. Using the 3mm stock S/R spacer on the rear is enough to prevent this.

I had 16X7 rims with 205/50ZR16's and there were no issues. It seems like the only people with issues have crap in the trunk, I have nothing.

I have 215/45ZR16s on 16x7 38mm offset with no rubbing. However, I did look for the narrowest measured sidewall width and widest tread width. There are 205s that have sidewalls that bulge out more than my Hankook 215s. You have to look at the info for the specific tire to make sure it will work.
