So I was thinking about the three parts cars i have in my backyard and I was thinking about getting a large go cart frame, or fabricating one myself and putting the zetec engine out of one of my parts cars. The engine supposedly only has 70k miles on it because it was replaced by the dealership back when it wasnt a parts car. So i wouldnt have to rebuild it.
Then i was thinking i have an extra 5spd in another parts car including the axle shafts rotors and everything. So i would take all those parts and mount them on this frame. I would rebuild then trans and put a LSD in it that way if i decide to make it a dune buggy it will be strong enough to turn over paddles.
Is there anything I have to do to the block of the engine in order to swap over to an MTX?
Also for the fuel injection seeing that it is all electric, is there a way to get rid of such a complicated setup and still run fuel injection without the computer and all the wiring?
I am familiar with older engines that are easily switched over to carb like for example a 302 roller motor out of an older mustang.

Sounds kinda cool, dibs on a ride!
As for the swap, the only difference matching an atx or mtx to the block is the spacers.

No, just be sure to change the CPS housing.

I seriously doubted. Alot of euro guys run carbs on there Zetec, might want to look into that. Maybe get some motorcycle carbs and fab a manifold for them.
If I ever swap in a 4AGE in my Corolla, the carb'd 4AC is going in a go-cart frame I have

Ur not to far so I'm sure if I build it u will see it at a meet or two 8)

I'll look into the carbs. I would prefer fuel injection but if need be i will run carb for the simplicity. I will prob rebuild the engine with some sick cams then to get the sweet sound. I just have to find a buggy frame that is bare for cheap so i don't have to spend all the time fabricating one. I kinda wanna make the go-cart similar to the atom

Weber carbs are readily available for the zetec. or you can put motorcycle TB's on with a simple megasquirt box.

Can these weber carbs power a built up Zetec or are they for lower hp engines? I would be afraid i wouldn't get enough fuel flow with a motorcycle carb. And how hard would it be to just use the stock fuel injection out of the car?

stock fuel injection would be easy with megasquirt. the weber carbs are made for cars, not motorcycles....the throttle bodies for fuel injection is what is from motorcycles. if you go with carbs, you will get awesome top end power, that's what all the kit car Caterham Super7's use in England.
