Hey I have a 2000 zx2 MTX. I just purchased it one week ago.

How can I tell if the PCM has been updated? I've read its bad to get the new updates because they rob some power by retarding the timing.

Also, how much does the "bad update" effect performance?

When Ford updates the vechicle with a new calibration code you will find the new code written on a sticker where the original one was or under the hood.

Thanks a lot but where is the original? I can probably find it but its dark now so I will check tomorrow. I was under the hood and didn't notice a sticker (doing Keman intake mod). It sounds a lot better now.
