Sorry gonna bitch for a bit.

Dont' you love a job where they don't care about you and basically use you as they please. I say this from being stuck in Toledo, OH for a freakn week basically waiting for them to sell a trip back so I can go home and keeping me in a crap of a hotel even though I kept saying we needed a new one cause there was nowhere to eat around it. Plus then when they do send us home, its at freakn 12am and end up flying through the night till 5am and since they don't want to spend anymore money they possible, we're suppose to fly straight through and that makes up land with like oh maybe 20 minutes of fuel. Ok done ranting.

So who can guess what I do for a living??

An MRI machine installer. Goes to different hospitals and clinics and installs those machines. My friend does that, but now he flies international, gets paid like $60,000 a year with free hotels, free car rentals, and free gas money.

How much do you have invested into your licences? What company to you fly for? And how old were you when you first got your privates licence?

Dude, I never knew you were a pilot..

Oh yea, have been since like as long as I've had my zx2...which is long.

Ok well I invested lots of money(went to University of North Dakota). After being out there I suggest just going to an fbo, getting your private, instrument, commerical, and CFI. Then work at a flight school that will give you your cfii, and mei. All in all your most likely looking at around 30-40k invested. I've instructed a couple different places and right now I'm a On Demand Cargo captain for Sierra West Airlines. Oh and its ok being a tired pilot if you fly cargo. Cargo doesn't bitch.

I always want to ask people that as well. I like to have something to compare myself to. IMO I would do virtually any job for the right pay. In five years I will be a journeyman steamfitter and make $35 an hour. We work in some interesting conditions sometimes though.

Oh C'mon! 20 Minutes of fuel is nothing! If ya need more, just go piss in the tank; After you climb out on the wing.

I never knew he was a pilot either; thats killer. I've always wanted to fly jets =(, sadly i'm too big, and too blind.

It'll take me about 5 more years to be making that as well and I'm flying a desk.`

Have your own airplane or do you rent fbo?

Well I'm on a salery, so I can fly only 1 hour a month and still get paid the same. But if I go over a set amount of hours I get a bonus of $50 bucks a flight hour after that. Really the pay at this job kinda sucks but its a stepping stone to something more i guess.

im thinking about going into the airforce and now i know only 4% or less acctaully are pilots but would it be more benificial for me to try to come up with the 4,700 they want for a privates license around here or should i wait till i join(if i do) and then try to get training from them or have them pay for college that will train me?

Unlikely Hero

If you want to be a pilot in the Air Force, at least get about 30 hours or so in an airplane. Thats because it adds points to your record and your standing in getting a slot. But seriously if your going to get 30 hours might as well get your license cause its only 10-20 hours more.
