i really do guys. its getting old. i cant keep up with it financially. atx goes out so i spend 1200 for mtx swap then i blow the trans so i spend 700 for a new trans and stuff. now my engines knocking or something. its ticking. i just cant keep up. im exhausted from doing all this serious work. oh i when i did my real main seal i sealed it wrong so it leaks.

i really would hate to sell the car cause i would get nothing for it, ive investied 8000 in parts no labor cause i do it all. i just bought it for 6,300 yeah i know i got ripped off. i still owe like 2,500. maybe just store it and get a new dd beater. i cant take it, i just cant. :(

Hmmmmmmmmm... is it the car or the driver ?? Could be both. perhaps you and ZX2Frost should debate this publically.

its really not meant to hold power. It was made to compete with other econo cars because it is an econo car. the reason you dont see many great power adders for it is because those of us trying for power are insane.

I have something to say though to ppl that say they are econoboxes... NOT. the regular escorts were. the zx2 were "sports" versions... kinda economic none the less, but still wasnt the car ford was advertising as the "economic" car

DSMs can make gobs of power. However the higher price (used of course) higher insurance costs and crank walk make them decent yet flawed. not to mention finding one that hasnt had the piss beat out of it.

Our Z has done pretty well so far. 110,000 miles, and no major problems (knock on wood). It's got some creaks and squeeks, but it gets me from A to B, and it's a fun car.

ditto. I've left the engine alone...107,000 on it I've replaced the tranny but that was driver's fault. Don't mod the shit out of it/beat on it and you hsould be good!

Got over 130k on mine, mostly stock. The drivetrain is all original. No problems, runs great, great gas mileage. How you treat a car and maintain it makes all the difference.

I put a headgasket in my silver zx2, it blew when it was boosted. It's now bolt on, and has no problems. My white zx2 has no problems.

Stop beating the piss out of your car.

you must beat the living piss out of your car.

my car hit 150k miles last tuesday. stock motor, clutch, tranny.

seems like people need to learn how to treat a car before they come on the forum and whine, bitch and complain.

i have had two problems, the first, my fuel pump got clogged up.

the second, my thermostat broke.

and yes, the ZX2 IS a econobox.

What people fail to realize is, no matter what the car, you race it, you break it, you fix it. Plain and simple. It only takes one time to beat the hell out of the car and have something break. Abd if you bought it used, you don't know how it was treated before you. They could have drove it into the ground, threw 10gallons of "Engine fix in a can" as we call it at work, and sold it.

It's rare to see a car thats babied have major issues.
I agree the ZX2 is an econobox, in a sense, however, they were going for a sportier car, with the luxury of a sport. They kept the great gas milage, and added some horsepower and options. They could have put a v6 in it, but Fords idea was to keep it economical, and give people the sense they have a sports coupe.

Its still quicker stock than most other stock 4's out there.

but even then, the zx2 is a great reliable car even if you beat the crap out of it IMO. for sure something is going to break, but these cars can handle a shitload before they actually do.

I got my car with 135k on it, I put another 5k miles, a kemanized intake, and some rubber on it.
The alternator died, but I after 135,000 miles I think it was due anyway...

LOL whenever something breaks on my car it is usually my fault. Like the other day I was pushing the limits of my suspension in a curbed parkinglot and guess what, I hit a curb and fucked up my alignment. Not to mention my trans went to shit because of my winter driving fun. A year ago my clutch went because of my newb ness but I know how to drive a 5-speed now lol.
