Top 3 choices for next summer's national meet.

After taking what I felt were the top 3 suggestions from people on where to have a meet that could entice the most wide spread amount of people. I have created this poll to hopefully narrow the selections down even further. Please vote if you intend on coming. Please done vote to skew the results. The poll will remain open for 14 days. Tim volunteered to do legwork for STL, but I don't think anyone is "hosting" as much as choosing an area and gathering in a "central" location. I know Loon has said not a chance to doing it at his place, though there are a few more Tenn folks who have yet to speak out.

Having the national ZX2 meet coordinated with a national car show would give the club more exposure and possibly influence parts manufacturers to continue supplying repair parts for our cars. IE All-Ford Nationals Carlisle PA. or going as a group to the Roush museum.I know, it sucked that none of the ZX2's even placed in their own class last year at Carlisle, but that just shows how little known our cars are and that we need to get the auto parts industry to take notice.

^ I'm with ya, but everyone complains about driving to PA. It's too far away for everyone...blah blah blah. That and people say they'll go, but like stated before about half of them actually show up. Granted, this year's turnout was more than double the past two years, and I want to try to get even more ZX2's there for the 2012 show. Not everyone wants to pay the registration fee for the show to just sit their car on the field in the group either. There are good points and bad points about doing it at a car show. Hell, even half the PA members didn't show up at this years event. That's kinda sad. There's no reason people couldn't show up, I went and my car wasn't even back on the road.

OK, the point is to get the club noticed by people in the auto industry (and get them to realize people like these cars). I don't care where or when as long as there is enough notice to make arrangements to get there.

I know this isn't on topic with finding a location, but there's always a way to get reconized. I've seen in magazines before where they do a small feature on clubs/national meets. We could invite a magazine company out to the national meet to shoot coverage about TeamZX2 or something like that. It's only a thought, but it wouldn't be hard in todays networking society.

I know since Feb there have been 13 or 14 stills between TN, SC, NC, VA and KY that have been found and dismantled. Some of those were well known in their area's. I try to get a gallon if possible since it lasts FOREVER.....until you guys show up and drink it all....

There's Norris Range (outdoor) about .45minutes from me that's nice. $15 per person and you have to stop by Norris PD to get the key and pay. Must have a DL showing proper age of 18. Other than that, there's indoor ranges that cost $20 but they're pistol ranges only. I know a few people accross the state that may or may not let us use their fields. Of course the thought of a bunch of us idiots attempting to do that could spell disaster. If this shoot n meet happens, there will be strick rules and people will follow them. I've spent time as a Range Master as I'm sure others have to. There's always one idiot who doesn't listen and puts peoples lives in danger. Firearms is a very serious hobby for me and I want everyone to be safe...

I seriously doubt I would let the entire "Team" meet do this. A few of you guys I know I can trust would be fine. Still yet, unless you bring your own firearms and ammo, you couldn't be included. That was the other part I was going to mention. Indoor ranges around here make you buy their ammo, normally dirty ammo at that. So the cost is there. And I'm not personally going to pay for everyone to shoot my guns. I'm okay letting people try a different gun, but using all my ammo would be less than cool.

I'd likely only end up bring my revolver anyway, cheap ammo, easy conceal, very easy for trips.

I was actually close to Nashvegas last weekend. I have a sister in the Lebanon area. I was out in the Provedence area in near MT. Juliet and saw a ZX2 that was grey and lowered with some god awfull chrome rims....that wasn't you was it??

That is why I started this now. Im looking to shoot for next june/july/august (big window I know) to have this. Which should give plenty of time for people to plan. I think the longer we hype this up, the more likely we are to have a bigger turn out. Also it gives the newb's a chance to get involved.

Since TN is in the fore running, no matter which end of TN it's in, I'd highly suggest we attempt to plan it around other bigger events if possible. I'm not saying do it when the Corvette Expo is in town or when the NSRA or GoodGuys is doing a huge show. If we can catch some big event next year be it a Auto-X exhibition or SEMA or something else like that, it would be a bigger benifit for more people to show up including press (who may already be there) and get the "exposure" some want. People will more than likely have to spring for a hotel room, eats-n-drinks, gas and what ever activities they want to attend or do. That will easily cost people $300 average if not more. "Team" events such as photo sessions or "cruize-in" can be planned as well as senic routes for an evening drive. Planned "Team" eating at a large restaurant could net us a % discount for being a large group as well as possibly being able to take over a wing of a hotel. Maybe trying to arrainge "package" deals to those WE know will show up no matter what and can afford the deposit ahead of time could be a great thing as well. Might give the newbie hopes and dreams that a big meet will happen....

you should probably have another poll as to which kind of event to schedule it around. i'm usually the only one on here serious enough to actually go to an autoX, and TN is way out of my range considering i'm an all but unemployed full time student now.

I would be willing to work on a cost effective scenerio. Also working with Hotels , and attractions to get better rates. I am trying to make this fun and affordable. I just hope people realize that this isnt a gift , and that you will have to dish out some $$. But like anything fun (excluding sex) normally comes with a price. I definitelty like positive and constructive feedback. If everyone helps just a little (even if that means just chiming in with an idea or offering up solutions) then this could turn into a great meet experiance.

Tim- I plan on doing something of that nature. I think we should lock down an area first and then we can expand on what activites and such are available. (and you should come) This is why i am being very open and letting people chime in. I want everyone to have a say, and if convincing enough we can act on it. I dont solely want to determine what goes down for a meet .

That^ . IF I did pull my gun shortly a bang would be heard. I've been taught in too many classes NOT to pull your gun as a scare tactic, it is a last means of defense(unless playing offense). Pulling and pointing your gun may stop an assailant from doing what they were about to do. But you can't take the chance the person is going to run at you, pull their own gun, do something crazy that will harm more people. The goal is harm reduction and protection(family, self, or strangers).

You want the situation to stop immediately after you pull your gun. You want to take no chances. And as sad as it sounds, I've been instructed both by detectives and by a friend who got sued by his would be robber who he clipped in the knee instead of the chest/head. My friend didn't want to kill the person. He deliberately shot the guy an inch above the knee cap who jumped out with a friend who ran off who was holding my friend at knife point and making advances to stab him. My friend was carrying his 1911 stubby in the small of his back. He reached for his wallet and banged the guy in the knee. Other dude took off. He then disarmed the assailant, patted him down, and tended his wound until the police and medic(who he called) arrived. Guy and his "mama" took my friend to court. After hearing both stories the judge threw it out, but not after my friend frustratingly told his story again to the judge, explained how this was a huge waste of his time, and that given the same scenario happened again he will hit the guy in the face so that the guy couldn't sue him for the bad guy being a "POS" scumbag that can't work for his own money.

So after being told so many times. There is no shoot to wound. No shoot to just stop the situation. No pull your gun to be a hero. There is shoot to save yours or others lives only. And being gun pull happy is counter productive as well. Even pulling your gun, unless about to fire it...could end up getting you and everyone care about in the area killed. You have to assess each situation. A whole gang of gunmen who just want money and then they are going to leave and not harm anyone...no need to be a hero, just give them your wallet. If the situation is these people or person WILL harm someone no matter what and you are willing and able to stop the situation...then by all means. But don't pull unless you are willing to immediately pull the trigger. Reaction time and judging the situation are key.

You can go from downtown kansas city to downtown stlouis in just under 3 with no construction on i-70, if there is construction/traffic/you do 60 the entire time..look at around 3.5-4.5

I think I've done it in the zx2 doing about 80 entire time, in 2.75hrs. If the meet isn't in kc, I'll go to one if its within reasonable distance for my zx2. I.E. 3-4hr drive. Otherwise, my zx2 isn't a cantidate for a long drive.

As a heads up to those who are worried about length of drive. I know to the ohio meet all the North East guys met up along the way and rolled in as a group, the drive ends up #1 a lot faster and #2 less boring. But understand the leader of the pack in general ends up being one of the elder members here and depending on their driving style you may be playing catch up or getting frustrated. Find out before joinging a group. I know when gotmilf leads he'll roll at 70-80 the whole way. I even had to run out ahead of the group because I forgot to fill up before leaving, think I hit 115 before I got to the exit(aka I was a dumbass, but it worked out)

I think I've done it in the zx2 doing about 80 entire time, in 2.75hrs. If the meet isn't in kc, I'll go to one if its within reasonable distance for my zx2. I.E. 3-4hr drive. Otherwise, my zx2 isn't a cantidate for a long drive.

If I go to KC I am not going to STL too...KC is more beautiful and an all around better place. Sorry STL folks.

As a heads up to those who are worried about length of drive. I know to the ohio meet all the North East guys met up along the way and rolled in as a group, the drive ends up #1 a lot faster and #2 less boring. But understand the leader of the pack in general ends up being one of the elder members here and depending on their driving style you may be playing catch up or getting frustrated. Find out before joinging a group. I know when gotmilf leads he'll roll at 70-80 the whole way. I even had to run out ahead of the group because I forgot to fill up before leaving, think I hit 115 before I got to the exit(aka I was a dumbass, but it worked out)

Nice, I didn't get hurt either, but no fishing. Irene was shitting in my area. Got a new pole for my birthday though. It's a glowstick by berkley. It's pretty neat. Glows in the dark and has lights in it. It's going to be my catfish and night fishing rod.

If a cabin is gotten then whoever pitches in is going to have to show up or they end up out of that money. Its not like a local meet where you say you're gonna show and don't. The national meets are paid for ahead of time since 95% of the people who show up will have to pay for sleeping accommodations and such.
