After talking to Loon, here is the direction we are thinking. The target dates would be June 8th,9th, and 10th. This would be a Friday - Sunday thing. The area looks like the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg TN. This area has a lot to offer. There is a 1/8 mile drag strip, the dragon is about 40 mins away, go karts, restaurants, water tubing, etc.
The goal that we are trying to achieve is always have a plan b and have structure to the meet. Obviously the close this comes there will be a itinerary more defined. So for example , if you dont feel like drag racing we would try and setup another activity for people. But just a disclaimer. I or we (people who are helping this meet become a reality) are not going to customize or modify the plans because people dont like the activities. We are all adults (that responsibility comes when your state issues you a drivers license) and that if you dont like the selection then you can find something else to occupy your time. We are not babysitters or chaperones. We are simply people who like the same car.

I will be working on some hotels/motels/cabins in the area. So just a word of advice, start saving up now. I will offer up some places to stay, but it will be up to you to reserve your own room or come up with your own lodging.


I am also going to start a list of people who are coming or maybe's. I will be updating this as the information is available. I am going to work with some local people to find some places and at the same time work on some dates.

All right, Mark and I discussed various things this weekend. We are planning on having an actual schedule planned for the meet. It will include various activities that the majority of the people will be attending. We are going to try to have alternate plans for those who wish to do something else. We will try to squeeze in a Tail of the Dragon run, Drag Racing, different "dinners/breakfast" gatherings along with anything from tubing and go carts to shopping for the ladies.

We really are going to try to make this a true National Meet.

I'm kinda slow on reading the thread and replying to this, but several of us have already met fusewerks so he can't be a shy noob. :p

As for the date, I dunno. That weekend would make me be driving back home on my birthday. Not that I really care too much since the last couple of years I worked on my b-day. The 3rd weekend in June will be another Father's Day issue for many like it was for Brad's Ohio meet 2010. Just thought I'd point that out. Honestly it doesn't matter to me about Father's Day because I never do much anyway. The second weekend should be fine, but I'd have to wait and see. The third weekend shouldn't be an issue for me, but I'm sure you see a few more drop outs because of Father's Day like there was for the Ohio meet. All in all you're going to have to find the best weekend where most can come. Something will always be going on on any particular weekend for people, so there's not really any way to include everyone that wants to go. Just make a date and make people make it work is the best way.

There is Knoxville Drag Strip that's 1/4 as well as Bristol Drag Way. No telling if Bristol will be open or if they'll be having something else going on there but Knoxville Drag way will be about an 1 1/2hrs from the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area which is where some of the activities will happen. No problem to drive that far and run but I doubt it'll do most any good. Things are still up in the air and we'll be workin out the details as we go.....

I'd like for you guys to think of this as a vacation (like an Apple Vacation package with activities preplanned) for yourselves vs. a meet. Anyone will be more than welcome to do as they wish and come and go as they wish. There will be events planned and you will have the pleasure of choosing what the hell you want to do. Some people will want to run the Dragon while others may want to play mini-golf, go-carts or go to DollyWood. You will be in a resort area with tons of fun shit to do.....

Well people have a yr to save up for all 3. Carlisle is cheap to show your car or get in so if your coming from a far distance all your really worrying about is gas, seeing as you could save money by sleeping in your car on the grounds. As for fathers day take him to dinner at a semi inexpensive place. Save the bulk of your money for the meet/zx2 vacation.

If people planned well they would be able to do it just fine as long as they plan ahead. Which alot of us have a problem doing but if they really wanted to they would figure it out. Ok Just a quick update.

What we are going to do is rent cabin in the gatlinburg/pigeon forge area. There are several more in the area and I will post which one I will be at. I think what we are going to have to do is call that the "base" or main meeting spot for the meet. I think We can probably work on a Dragon run, and some track time. I will try and locate a local scca or autox event for those who are into that. Also I wouldnt mind trying to a a group picture at one point as well as a swap meet for parts and other things. Im hoping to post the base cabin in the next 2 weeks

I already made the drive up to Ohio for that meet and I was probably the longest driver that said would actually come and showed up. :p That trip according to Google Maps is 23 hours one way. I did it in 3 days.

10 hrs will be the longest drive I've done in the zx2. Which, if I did 7hrs in the camaro 10 in the zx2 will be cake lol. I will think about it when it gets closer. I did it by myself a couple times. It's not that hard. Just look up the how to. Take off the wheels. 2 bolts at the hub and strut on each corner. remove the brake line from the strut. The front has 4 nuts holding the strut mount in and then drop it down and out. Rears you take some trim out from the inside and there's 2 nuts on each side.
