Ok, I busted the axle on the passenger side. trying to locate one to replace it. found one and went to put it in and pulled out what was left of the first. The ends are different. The replacement has a male end on each end. The original has a female end that plugs into a shaft about a foot long that has a male end that plugs into the tranny and a male end that plugs into the axle. Cant find anyone who can get me the right axle. Anyone explain this one to me?

the one you goot is most likely the right one cause the stock axles have male ends. what side axle went out?

busted the passenger side, ripped the boot off and tore the axle out of the end out. the one I have is the same size of the one in the car, just different connecting ends. One in the car has femaleend that has a shaft with a male end that is held in place by a brace bolted to the engine. That shaft plugs into the tranny.

Think I may have found it. It is the halfshaft on the passenger side I am looking for. I think I have a driver side axle. Got the wrong part from parts store. It is shorter than passenger side.

The part that bolts to the engine is the halfshaft.

The drivers side axle is one piece. The passenger side is two.

Axles are often called halfshafts. They may even be called drive shaft. Could even be inner and outer. As long as everyone knows what they are taking about, I gues it doesn't really matter.

atx zx2 = long axle passenger side. no halfshaft.
mtx zx2 = halfshaft + axle passenger side.

both atx and mtx driver side are the same
