That car is very sexy, although the interior isn't pretty. Its in good shape, just kinda ugly to me. But the outside is nice.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the burgundy interior. I'm redoing the interior in black and blue.

Mike
06-16-2008, 10:34 AM
Good..that will look much better, and i'm hoping the dash would be black...

Nick_83
06-16-2008, 10:37 AM
Yeah, I have a friend that's gonna fiberglass it. Then I'll have it painted black.

Mike

Good. Can't wait for updates.

BTW, those tranmissions setups allow for a very cool shifter. You can modify the stock shifter so that its super short shifting, but still tall (aka non-ricer).

FYI.

These cars are worth restoring... not very common and parts are easy to come by on the driveterrain.

Nice car. Always wished I had one. The burgundy interior sucks though. Glad your changing it. (what were car designers thinking back then?) lol Keep it up.

A friend of mine has a widebody. Making gobs of power. Somewhere around 475 right now. They are good cars, and can be made fast, for cheap. I've been looking for a decent one for quite some time. Good find.

My friend blew the motor in his 68 mustang and traded it for 2 of these. I wanted this one, so he told me if I bought him a 16g turbo for his I could have it. So, I jumped on ebay and found one for $95 with shipping. So, I pretty much just paid $95 for the car. Then two weeks after he got the turbo, he blew the motor in his conquest.

I'd offer you mine, but I don't think you'd wanna come all the way to MS to get it.

Aww man. I love those cars. I thought Eagle made Conquests too? I saw one in a junker and I really wanted to just buy it out of there before I knew anything about cars. I just liked the look and the turbo.

I'm not sure if they did. But the Mitsubishi Starion is the same exact car as the Conquest just has a different name

conquest-king
06-23-2008, 03:28 PM

Too bad you have to sell it. They are pretty cool cars, we had one at the salvage yard I used to work at that I was thinking about picking up but never did.

Sweet dude. I've got an 88 fiji blue Tsi I'm restoring/modding right now. Awaiting my ST lowering springs to finish my suspension setup, then I'll work my way to bigger exhaust and engine mods. You should join if not already done so starquest club.com and 2.6liter.us, they have tons of info and are gratious to help you out. What ever you do don't get rid of it! These are getting hard to find and are real head turners now days. I know how tough parts are to find for them but just persevere man!

conquest-king
07-07-2008, 08:52 PM
totally i would never sell the ones i have they have become a part of me. Every time i cant find the parts i need i buy another one that is one way to ALWAYS HAVE A SPARE which is always a good idea. By the way already a member to those sites. Post up some pics.

Nick i havent had any luck finin anything yet but i will definately keep lookin.

Here's a crappy pic of it right after I bought it 2 years ago: http://www.cardomain.com/member_pages/show_image.pl?bg=000000&image=http://memimage.cardomain.com/member_images/8/web/2540000-2540999/2540473_2_full.jpg

Yeah a parts car for these are very helpful, most guys who own these have a spare.

Nick_83
07-08-2008, 08:54 AM
I don't have room at my house to have a spare. Wish I did though, it would make the whole automatic to manual swap way easier. Thanks for keepin an eye out conquest-king. I can get everything but the pedals and assemblies. I may just keep it auto just until I can actually find the parts. I'll have to join those sites. I'm already on g54b.com (hardly any ppl on it), and nwstarquest.com.

I finally found the pedals and assemblies. Now, I just gotta get a new clutch and the lines. But I'm stoked. College starts back in about two weeks, then I'll have the lifts to do the swap. It's gonna be awesome.

Nick_83
09-20-2008, 09:11 PM
Yeah. I'll have to check that site out. The car had been sitting up for about 3 years in some dude's yard before I got it. I'm redoing the interior, and gonna junk some stuff from under the hood. Also, I'm saving to go mpi. It's gonna be badass.

Looks like cardboard. :D

conquest-king
09-22-2008, 01:45 PM
It is cardboard wrapped in fiberglass to give it strength. It is EXTREMELY lightweight and very sturdy. My 1500 watt pioneer premier sub hasnt cracked it yet!!!!!!

Nick_83
10-22-2008, 12:14 PM
Just an update. I got the manual pedals all put in and the tranny bolted in. Just waiting on my driveshaft to come in. Found out I need a new head. But at least the swap is about 90% done.

Texas Tracer
10-22-2008, 11:50 PM
Are you gonna get a non-jet valve head?

How hard was it to run the new boost guage? Did you just take the old one out and plug the new one in the existing connections?

When are you going to do the small block chevy V8 swap? ;)

conquest-king
10-24-2008, 02:25 PM
Yeah just take the dash gauges out and disassemble them enough to get the factory boost gauge out and then all you need to do is remove the face from your new boost gauge so it wont hit on the clear plastic piece that covers the gauges and the gauge will screw right into the hole left by taking the factory boost gauge out. I had to rig up my a new source of light for the gauge since the original light stuck out the back of my boost gauge to far this was about the hardest part!!! i just used one of the very small dash lights and wired it up in side of the new boost gauge. It is so cool the orange glow from my gauge totally matches the rest of the orange i love it. Best part is if need may be you can put the original back in no problem. BUT BE VERY CARFUL PULLING WIRECLIPS OFF OF THE GAUGE ASSEMBLY I HAVE HEARD OF PEOPLE TOTALLY F*CKING UP THERE GAUGES BY PULLIN ON SH*T!!!!! I didn't have ANY problems.

When are you going to do the small block chevy V8 swap? ;)

Not anytime soon!!! I think the added weight in the front would NOT be beneficial to driving in the twisties. I am WAY more interested in the Hurricane MPI system that would let you make all the power you would need!!!!!!!

Texas Tracer
10-24-2008, 03:11 PM
I would go 4g64 wideblock before a V8 swap. Hopefully FuelInjectionPro will start making the Hurricane kit soon. I'd be interested in going multiport if a "kit" was available.
