My 2000 S/R has bubble leveling type adjusting locations for up and down, but they seem to require a weird tool, something like a "star" bit with a tiny hole in the end to allow the "star" to bottom in the socket to turn the screw. Is this a Ford "no you can't do it yourself" trick?

I was going to try to grab the OD of the screwhead with pliers but that looks like it will scratch something up.

Torx bits.

the up and down is more out board. behind the outer parking lamp, the left and right is directly aft of the level. the torx on top of the level has nothing to do with the aiming.

use a 5/32 six point socket on the adjustment screw and turn it, watch the level to aim the vertical adjustment. and the horizontal adjustment and external torx right behind the level is pretty much where ever you want it just try to keep it out of the eyes of oncoming traffic.

FYI the passenger side vert screw is a bitch do to the A/C lines in the way.

A 4mm socket works just fine. No special tool needed.

Thanks for the info, I reread the owner's manual, I see what they mean now. 4mm?, wow that's like micro...nothing that teeny in my arsenal...back to the store again....

they are basically ok but slightly crosseyed and one side too low...we'll see if I can get them better...

Thanks again, I bought a 4mm socket and I used different sets of extensions on each side to thread my way through tubing and wiring and got a good grip on the adjusting screws; a road test and final tweeks will do the trick.
