how can i get the crank shaft pulley bolt off. and is it left threaded. trying to put a new timing belt on.its a 1989 toyota corolla 16 valve carborated with single overhead cam.

An impact wrench usually works. It is not left hand thread.

impact wrench is the only way i know how.

use a breaker bar and wedge it against the frame of the car against the direction of rotation of the engine, and then quickly "tap" the starter. the torque of the starter should loosen about any stuck crank bolt. Worked great on my Miata and the many Volvo's I've worked on.

That will work. Use a 6 point socket, it will stay on better.

well ive been on this site since 2000 or alittle be4, this is a new user name since the site changed severs and the reason i post it on here is becuz there alot of good people on here who know what there talking about and could help me out with my friend car ......i got a 1998 zx2 well ive own about 3 so far and i love them there the best car out there 4 the price and they can be made to have alot of power , and sporty look too

should have posted your old username so people actually know you were here before, otherwise it would have been kind of odd that someone posts on a zx2 forum about a corolla. Not that it never happens, haha.
