I'm getting a ZX2 2003 ATX this summer with money I've been saving up for years. I'll have around $1k~2k left over, and I'm wondering what performance mods I should purchase first. (I'm not much for aesthetics at the moment.)

Now, here's the noob questions:
Does the white/blackline wire splicing work on an ATX 2003 to get rid of that 105mph governor?

-section edited due to complete incompetence-

Is there some massive performance FAQ that I can read somewhere? Haha.

Sorry for being a complete noob. Trying to be as respectful as possible, and definitely hoping to become part of the community soon.

no clue on the wire spice- dont own a atx

capacitors- not my area. jw: but aren't capacitors used for audio???

performance FAQ I think is in the noob section. basically read that and you'll know a lot more!

Also, what is a flux capacitor and twin capacitors? How difficult are these to install and how much do they cost? How much performance will they add?

I'd say someone is yanking your chain on this one!!

But as to answer what it is

Think Back to the Future
The "flux capacitor", which consists of a regularly squared compartment with three small, flashing neon tubes arranged as a "Y", is described by Doctor Brown as "what makes time travel possible". The device is located between the headrests of the seats and, as the time machine nears 88 mph (141 km/h), light coming from the flux capacitor pulses faster until it becomes a steady stream of light. As the film continues the Doctor originally conceived the idea for the flux capacitor on November 5, 1955 when he slipped and hit his head on the sink while standing on the toilet to hang a clock.

It is not described in the films exactly how the flux capacitor works beyond that of a typical plot device, though the Doctor mentions at one point that the stainless steel body of the DeLorean has a direct and influential effect on the "flux dispersal", though he is interrupted before he can finish the explanation. The flux capacitor requires 1.21 gigawatts of electricity to operate.

For most of the first film, the 1.21 gigawatts were supplied by a plutonium-powered nuclear reactor and, with the absence of plutonium, a bolt of lightning channeled directly into the flux capacitor in the film's climactic sequence. At the end of the first film and for the remainder of the trilogy, the plutonium nuclear reactor is replaced by a "Mr. Fusion Home Energy Reactor" generator acquired in the year 2015. An obvious parody of Mr. Coffee, the prop is built from a Krups coffee grinder. The "Mr. Fusion" device apparently converts household waste into electrical power. Due to a "hover conversion" made in 2015, the car also became capable of hovering and flight, though it lost this ability at the end of the second film.

The DeLorean time machine is a licensed, registered vehicle in the state of California, where the films take place. The vanity license plate used in the film says "OUTATIME" (which is too long for the standard 7 characters on California license plates), and when the Doctor returns from the future, it is a barcode license plate, that implies that by that year license plates have moved to other more sophisticated means of tracking and registering.

Although the DeLorean is destroyed at the end of the trilogy, a new flux capacitor enables the Doctor's second time machine (fashioned from a 19th century steam locomotive) to travel through time. Unlike its predecessor, the locomotive's flux capacitor is steam-powered and located on the front of the vehicle rather than within the passenger area. The locomotive also has the ability to fly and hover, much like the DeLorean at the end of Part I and throughout Part II, and the future (2015) era cars in Part II.

However, in the animated series, Doc rebuilds the DeLorean, restoring most of its features, including Mr. Fusion and the hover conversion.

flux capacitor and such is a reference to the movie "back to the future"

the site is being rebuilt after a massive crash so just read the posts over the next few weeks. for performance mods you can remove the intake resonators or buy an aftermarket intake as a good start. PM me with any questions, you can pm anyone and I'd bet money they'd be willing to help or point you in the right direction. welcome to the site

Damn straight!!!

You posted in the newbies section and thus did not get yourself bashed all to hell.

Like it's been stated most of us on the site are pretty good and will offer all the help we can.

The server crashed and we lost everything we had, so the info is coming back though.

Welcome to the site and as far I can tell you're off to a great start by posting where you should when you're just learning.

I might be ignorant but I'm not arrogant. I know where I belong. :)

Hopefully all the great knowledge on this site is passed onto my head, as well as previous knowledge, such as a Back to the Future reference, will be retained so I don't make myself look like a total fool again.

It's been so long since I've seen that movie, but I guess the brain literally goes by the code, "Use it or Lose it."

Mtx Ftw!

You're a Michigander too?

And yes, I prefer MTX. Unfortunately, this will be a family car for the better half of a year. I'm the only one that can drive a stick.

Use the governor wire mod on a switch - only when you need it.
Get a larger rear sway bar - a 19mm [3/4"] one. Probably the best mod, and should have been stock.
Unplug your knock sensor - perfectly safe and very beneficial.
An iceman intake is a good mod, or modify your own by removing the resonators and opening up the tiny intake snorkel.
Watch out when you have an automatic tranny - you need to keep your low and mid range power. Cams should be approached with caution.
A header and larger exhaust is beneficial, but don't go too big - a 2.25" pipe is good with an auto.
A UDP [underdrive pulley] has nice gains for the money.
Tuning from SCT is a great gain, for several hundred dollars. Most stock computers blow chunks tuning wise.
