Trannsmission blues, let me tell ya....
First off Ill start by saying One night after a hard beat on the car, while driving home is Stopped going into 2nd (3rd was blew out) 4rth and reverse, only gears I had were 1rth and 5th....
I was led to belive that mabey from 3rg gear blowing out, its teeth probably F*ed the other gears up, I pulled the trans, puklled it apart and found both 3rd gears were totally stripped ( As given, I knew it was blow) and only 1 single tooth mission off 5th gear, everything else physically looked fine.
So, I got a whole new gear set with new shafts, all new input output and differential bearings put in. The shafts That I got was already fully loaded, all the gears were on there and bearings pressed on so all I had to do was put the shafts in and put the case back together.
So my first time at doing it, I spent hours of making sure everything was right, clean. Everything wen back in the way it should have.
Put the trans in and it doesnt want to shift worth shit... then I start the car then it wont shift into ANY GEARS!
So, I assumed it could have lied in the shift linkage assembly, so i swapped then out with another set I had and still no shfit! ( yes the bushings are in the stablizer bar, ES, and the nilon sleave bushings are in the shift linkage and the shifter.
So I assume I meesed something up and thats what I get for trying to do something myself.
So I took the trans back to the guy who helped me builtit the first time I killed 3rd gear. Got it back, put it in and at first it wanted to shift into some gears but then it wouldnt. I turn the wheels some ( I have not even attemted to start the car ) And it was REALLY hard to turn the wheels, then get in the car and now it wont shift into ANY GEARS again.....
Im thinking back to when I took the trans apart, the shift forks physically looked fine and not bent or anything, the bearings were" shimmed" or so I was told they were....
So to you trannie Guru's what do you think the problem is? It has to be the shift fork,no?
Im wondering if the ring on the shaft that the fork sits into may be bent? But this cant be, It was on a perfectly fine working loaded shaft (or so I was told)
Im going to attempt to rip it out again, but at this point, im cluseless as to what it could be, Like I said, every single bearingin the tranmission is brand spankin new.
