So what would the ZX2 look like today if Ford kept building them. I don't want to imagine anything Focus based or the tribar grill on these cars. I think they nay have done the right thing discontinueing the platform because they would have screwed it up somehow. I like the cross between the Thunderbird and Probe that we have now. Hence the reason I sold my old unreliable Thunderbird SC to get one of these.

So it is the new Focus coupe. I don't need to look to know its ugly. I am thinking if the 2 cars could coexist. What would the Escort based one look like.

I don't think Ford is ever going to produce a compact 2 door ever in their life. I guess they really don't want to tap into a huge audience...

Ford produces compact 2 door cars, they just don't do it well in North America.
...as much as i like my ZX2 S/R I wanted a Puma ST155 back in '99. No chance to import one to the US, though and the S/R came around at the right time. Some of Ford's current proposals based on the fiesta platform in Europe are interesting, but they aren't going to happen in the US or Canada.
There are reasons I think of retiring from my US job and moving to Europe... better cars is one of those reasons.

the 2008 focus is a 2 door cpe.
Go to the local ford dealer and check them out.
A base model is about $13,000

Unless they get rid of the stupid seating arrangement they have no thanks. I do not want to drive a sport compact and feel like I'm driving a minivan.

You might think the cars are better over there Jon, but they are all big pieces of shizzle! My '93 Escort was falling apart from underneath me. There are a lot of cars that are junkers, and aren't even all that old.
Plus, you'll pay $25,000 for a Puma.... Do you really want to pay that much for a sported out econo box?
This is what Ford had in mind :

Ford didn't make the Start, an outside company did.

God awfull. New cars look terrible IMO.
Lets take my last vehicular love for example:
I had a 1991 Mercury Cougar. I thought it was a great looking car, was the sister car of the Ford Thunderbird. Mine was the XR7 Model *after the swap from the 3.8 head gasket blower* With a 305 V8 I believe. Anyways, I heard they were going to remake the Cougar! Holy shit! Im getting a loan! They come out with the "new" cougar and failure. The damn thing looks like a bug! Ugliest thing I have ever seen!

Thats the 1991, EXACT color as mine, except I didnt have the cloth top look in the rear.

The 2001. Come on ford, you didnt even TRY! They went from a full size with GREAT handling du to the wide tire spread, to a coupe....
All opinion I suppose, some would say the old Coug was ugly.

the new Cougar was kick ass, reminded me of the Puma, Just woth it had options for a 140hp Zetec (opposed to the normal 130), a 200HP v6 and a 3.9L v8. Then it would have been a nice car. :)

Yea, Like I said, all preference. I didn't like the newer look. Maybe I'm just not ready to "Embrace" the change. Not into all these "future" cars.
