New lancers really that slow?

Well, holy hell. Really surprised I guess. I was at a light tonight with my gf, just sitting there with the heat on in late June because Ohio fails. Anyways, I saw some tool WAY back in his seat of a new Lancer with a buddy 'laughing' at my car. Haha, real funny. I say to my gf, "Watch, these stupid fucks are going to try to race me."

Low and beholds, the light turns. Wait, they didn't launch...neither did I. I take 1st gear to 4k, and shift to second about 2 ft from him. Neither one of us are racing. A freeway entrance is up ahead, so I figure see ya. He guns his 152 hp of fury just as I expected. I quickly switch lanes to follow him onto the on ramp where he continues to press his daddy's 22k car. The whole time he is obviously in front of me but he is gunning the shit out of this car. I am doing about 90 in 4th RIGHT on his ass barely even pressing my car. When it switches to freeway, the cock sandwich won't race me. Boo

IDK man. I thought the new Lancer's were quicker then this. I wasn't even pressing my car as hard as I could and I could have passed this crotch stain with ease. I think he got pissed that little Mr. escort had a little more then he expected so he backed off before he embarrassed himself in front of his buddy. Fail.

They've had an evo version in the U.S. for years now.... The base lancers are slower than hell, I wouldn't even waste anytime on them.

Yea the base lancers are slow. Nothing you have to really worry about. Its like a lot of cars these days. So what if they make fancy hp numbers. One Hp is what sells cars..torque is what wins races. Second Most of these cars are getting heavier. A 2004 GTO with a LS1 with a T56 tranny only run's a 13.7 stock forum making 350hp. When a Camero from the late 60's running that with a 4 speed will run around 12 a high 12. Good Job though keeping up with him and showing him who is to really to laugh at.

Lancers have always been slow as hell.

A kid I know used to have one with dragon stickers on it. I think it ran like 0-60 in 9 flat.

It was an older one, the Rally Spec package, which meant you pay $3000 more and get some crappy rims.

there's already a evo 2009. and its slower than the evo 8 or 9. i've raced w/base lancers and well poor guys. my best friend had an 97 escort and recently bought a new lancer....it was reaally fuuuny watching him how he couldn't catch me!

My understanding is that the lancer all in it's own is a slow 4 door lancer.

The EVO on the other hand, that's a different ballgame...

the laancer has 152 hp at the crank and weighs like 2900lb(approx) so a stock zx2 with 130 hp and weighs 2460 so the lancer hp/weight=.052 and the zx2 is .052. so they have about the same hp to weight ratio. so if you have any mods then you should beat him. just the math behind it. like stated earlier, the evo is a very different machine

The ZX2 probably has slightly better gearing. But not by much.

the new evo's are called the evox and they have been out since april i believe. the guy who owns the shop i tune at ownes 1.. They are pretty cool looking.. but yeah the base model lancers are slow as hell..

They are slow. A guy i work with has the 07 ls edition lancer with a fart cannon and a make shift short ram intake and i had at least 1 1/2 car on him from the launch and this guy has been mad doggin from the beginning. now he's always around dangling off my nuts and what not...it's what ever.........
