Front speaker mounting depth

I was just curious as to the maximum mounting depth that can be used in the front speaker location. I'm looking at some Alpine Type R's, and wanted to make sure they will fit. The mounting depth for those is 2-15/16ths". Any help is appreciated. Thanks

i think if you go with alpine R components it shouldn't be a problem, but i depth-checked some fullrange alpine R's and there wasn't enough room, iirc... i think the guys at a best buy can let you test fit it before you buy it... never hurts to ask, and saves a lot of hassle... then just buy online xDDD

At 2 15/16" I think you have no chance in hell IF you want your windows to go all the way down, BUT I don't know for sure. This also may or may not depend on whether or not you have power or manual windows (again, I don't know).

If you remove the door panel you will find that there's a bit of room between the speaker and inside of the door panel, so you could build up a little spacer (maybe 1/2" thick?????) to help move the speaker away from the glass if you need to. Just something to think about if you need the option.
